I’m guessing they are not in milk. You could clip them with a normal shearing machine and sheep comb or a good soak with the pressure hose normally makes them fall off on their ownWhat livestock clippers would you recommend to clean them up? Or what would you recommend i do? Getting tired of looking at them. Thanks
Any particular brand and model you would recommend?I’m guessing they are not in milk. You could clip them with a normal shearing machine and sheep comb or a good soak with the pressure hose normally makes them fall off on their own
We’ve got a Horner Rambo but I think I’d try one of the Horner ones that take the makita battery’s next time as we still have a wire to the batteryAny particular brand and model you would recommend?
Yeah these are tie stall cows, they're bedded good they just like to miss the gutter. I've been thinking about putting trainers in after they're clipped... ThanksBed the cubicles up. Clip off any hair and still lie in the same muck, next time it will be in the skin not on the hair and even more difficult to get off.
Are the cows tied in? See your from across the pond.
Ok I'll look that up, thanksWe’ve got a Horner Rambo but I think I’d try one of the Horner ones that take the makita battery’s next time as we still have a wire to the battery
I'll take a look at these, thanksThese are what we use for clipping dirty cattle.Heiniger Xtra Sheep Mains Clipper

They will clip the legs and tails ok but I wouldn’t clip there bags with a sheep comb as it would likely cut them
The down pipe broke off in the next stall down yesterday, I took the pic yesterday. ThanksI think you may be 'barking up the wrong tree' as it were. From the picture it looks like the beds fairly desperately need cleaning and bedding to stop them getting dirty in the first place?

No that's ok I posted here for advice so I can make some changes. I'm going to go with the heiniger. Thanks for the repliesGlad we are rt and have a ring fenced market that doesn't allow products in that are produced using inferior standards.
Not a dig at op, just a dig at our stipulations
A minority, concentrated in the north and Canada. obviously limits herd size so small herds.Would there be many cows still in tie stalls in the US?
I suspect it's illegal in the UK, it's definitely not allowed on an ARLA contract.
Yeah there's a lot in the US and Canada, probably more than 500 tie stall dairies in New York and Pennsylvania alone and there is still the rest of the country. My cows go out during spring summer and fall for rotational grazing and are clean then, I just want them clean now. Most farmers leave there cows in year round! Kinda surprised of the interest watch some farmers on YouTube. ThanksWould there be many cows still in tie stalls in the US?
