Our target on a good year is 7.5-8 t/ha
Sorry you haven't had a reasonable harvest, think we are about to be in the same position following very similar weather events. Have you sold the crop, or do you store? What price do you hope to achieve? Many thanks, always interesting to hear from other parts of the World.

I sold 500 tons in february for 650 RON/t, thats the equivalent of 120 GB pounds now. That seemed a good price at the time, the crops were looking great and i frankly i decided to forward sale because i was worried about storage space, as we also have about 220 ha of OSR.

The prices are what they are because maybe 90% of what we as a country produce will go to the export and we are not big enough to sell directly to an external consumer.

How big an area was affected by drought?
Just wondering if it was localised to you or widespread.

It was pretty much general, much worse in some regions where some farmers ended up direct drilling maize in their wheat fields. If anything was localized, it was the rain

On Thursday 26th September, we’re holding a webinar for farmers to go through the guidance, actions and detail for the expanded Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) offer. This was planned for end of May, but had to be delayed due to the general election. We apologise about that.

Farming and Countryside Programme Director, Janet Hughes will be joined by policy leads working on SFI, and colleagues from the Rural Payment Agency and Catchment Sensitive Farming.

This webinar will be...
