Flockwatch App

ilivestock for me, use it with a blue-handled shearwall reader but I can see on the list if you're on Android it will also work with the red one.

Great app, and fantastic support. I would def give it a try if you are thinking of an app. Also cheaper than Flockwatch.
Was about to move over to it. Already downloaded the trail app. Seems to do the job. Was just waiting back for a response from Herdwatch, both the response on here and their support said they would get back to me, heard nothing yet but I’ll give them another day or so. But it doesn’t look good. Their support seems like a bit of a waste of space.

I went with ilivestock for the cattle in the end because herdwatch said they’d ring on a certain day/time to help set up my account with cts and didn’t. ilivestock support is fantastic.

Bit of an update, matter has now been resolved. Herdwatch contacted to say that unfortunately the app is only compatible at present with a shearwell stick reader when using the app on an android phone, I’m iPhone, they have offered a full refund on flock watch and will inform me in the future when the app is compatible with the EID reader I have. Can’t say fairer than that. So I’ve signed up with iLivestock which is compatible with the reader.

I find Flockwatch/Herdwatch pretty good bar a few niggles….
It only seems to record 30-40 animals on a treatment before needing to be re-synced.

I can’t seem to get the QR code to work or the bar code for cattle passports. Generally decent though, and better than bits of paper getting wet in the truck.

That seems a little odd that you have to sync it so much, on ilivestock you can do as much as you want and just sync whenever. Yeah I sometimes have issues with the QR codes on med bottles. Def better than paper!

Does anyone know how to remove a user from the app @Herdwatch? I’ve had a member of staff leave today (on decentish terms).
I’d rather not ask via their messaging service within the app as the former member of staff will see the conversation too!

When I scanned all my ewes, their tags in the app showed a prefix of ‘LAGBR’ instead of ‘UK’.
After some toing and froing with the flockwatch team they changed ‘LAGBR’ to more numbers - ‘8260’ ( which apparently is UK in numerical form)

tags on the app show:
4 digit prefix
7 digit flock number
5 digit sheep number
All in a line with no spaces

Too many numbers!

my old man says he prefers our 10 yr old shearwell reader because that shows
‘UK’ (space) flock number (space) sheep number)’
I tend to agree it’s a more user friendly way of showing the number and it says on the tag!

Flockwatch say the format can’t be changed.

Has anyone else experienced this? How have you got round it? Or are you living with it?

cheers

All 5 models of agrident are compatible with flockwatch and we can supply phone bracket so phone clips on the the reader for one handed use.

Has there been a SW update as my agrident reader would not talk to the software, your team said it was not compatible.

In the end I got a work around sorted by the stick supplier. It was to do with Bluetooth protocols I believe.

The older Agrident sticks were not ios ready. All the new ones are. The workaround is to set the reader to HID mode which means the attached device thinks it's got a BT keyboard attached. HID smart is the same as HID except that after reading and sending an eid to a device, the reader disconnects so that the device onscreen keyboard works. When you scan the next tag in HID smart, the reader connects sends the tag and disconnects again.
You won't have to use HID or HID smart if working with an app like FlockWatch using any one of the 5 current models of Agrident.
HID and HID smart are very useful for any users that have a simple spreadsheet running on their phone tablet or computer and want to link to a reader.

update of previous post where I stated all 5 models of Agrident are compatible with HerdWatch. updated info: all 5 readers are compatible with HerdWatch runing on an android device. only the AWR250 and AWR300 are compatible with HerdWatch running on a iPhone. This is a certification issue with iPhone. Androids are simple. You can run anything on an android more or less. iPhones require a device certification process linked to apps that will use them and the 3 pocket Agrident are not yet certified with Apple for use with the HerdWatch app. For up to date info on this contact HerdWatch. I didn't test it, but I suspect that HID mode or HID smart mode would be a bit of a workaround for iPhones and and the APR readers, but that has a problem. In HerdWatch/FlockWatch, the multiple entry forms require the reader to be properly connected, not linked as an external keyboard and to the best of my knowledge the forms that accept multiple entries of EID numbers will not work using HID or HID smart mode. The 2 AWR sticks do not have any issues.
