You won't regret changing it. I changed the tractor this time, I decided to send the old 3000 dome away with the old tractor and have a new 6000 dome with the new one. The difference is quite incredible. I didn't get much of a chance to try the 3000 after the Jan update as it only came dry when the new tractor came but the 6000 is so much quicker picking up signal, doesn't drop out anything like as bad under trees, and if it drops out it picks the signal back up almost immediately. The old 3000 would take a couple of minutes, then the AB line had moved.

I've also found I'm going back to fields 3 weeks later for the second split of fert and the AB lines are still in exactly the same place as the wheelmarks from the first pass. The 3000 would move about even within a few hours. This is all on SF1

Glad to hear that, very annoying with the 3000 if you went out of the field for any amount of time and came back the AB line would have moved! And having to go out into the yard when you wake up in the morning to turn it on so it could get the signal!

Got a 3000 series rtk dome that suddenly failed, I was told it is a problem with the G5 network that is upsetting the dome.
Now running a 6000 series rtk doom and everything is good again.

Please tell us more. The receiver died completely out of the blue? Or did you lose all satellites? Or did it just lose RTK fix suddenly? The fix did not come back at another position?

Been ploughing downtown Ipswich or Colchester lately? No 5G anywhere near South Suffolk.

If it’s 5G why is it only JD 3000 domes effected? Find it strange that 5G is enabled in the Fen!

Trying to keep an open mind, never know what triggers a bug in poor implementation and kills the device. Would expect proper explanation from the device manufacturer anyway.

So far I've struggled to understand if it is (a mandatory) SW update that kills the device or just a momentary exposure to 5G signal or something else. I don't know which frequency bands 5G operates in the UK but there is always a risk that a new system operating close to the GPS (or other satellite systems) frequency band(s) or close to the RTX Rangepoint frequency band, could cause RF interference and make the GNSS receiver fail to receiver satellite signal or the correction signal if it comes from a satellite. New devices may have better filters to avoid interference from other systems operating on a nearby frequency band. In this case the JD issue should only occur at some random spots close to 5G base stations (if it was the 5G mobile, at least 5G coverage would be needed before any 5G issues could appear and it would be easy to avoid by switching 5G support off from the phone).

Ours finds the satellites, full green bands on the bottom two, but zero accuracy on the top bar. It seems to have got worse since I first noticed it. In mid January I subsoiled fine with it all day, the next day it was intermittent. Tried it last week and it doesn’t work at all.

I was out towards the Diss area.
Had been happly drilling for a week or so.
Got to a new field and watched the dome lose its RTK signal and then its GPS signal, then no signal.
Then it gains RTK, then lost it. Then it came back.
I was sat on a hill with nothing around me and it was coming and going.
I could not use it at all..

Exactly the same symptoms as mine on SF1

We farm land around different air bases in East Anglia, signal is not often a problem.
We had two drill tractors running 3000 domes, they both suddenly lost signal at the same time, one minute later they back on full signal again..
They were working in a big field, no trees and no air bases.

Nothing is future proof indefinitely. Certainly not modern technology. These domes will all sooner or later join the likes of 8 tracks, VHS, minidiscs etc.

True but 8 tracks, VHS and minidiscs work still today even if the technology is outdated and has disappeared from shops.

It would be more reasonable if these receivers stopped working because of all GPS and other birds had died or changed their signal format but no change there. Many other equally old receivers still continue to work as they did when new.
