new AHDB chair appointed in April i think ...........

it’s traditional that it’s an ex nfu pres or high office holder it seems

nepotism ? surely not ?

in all seriousness Guy will be a big loss to the NFU - without doubt he is one of the good guys and really should have been a president

is Tom Bradshaw his replacement? if so that’s excellent, he will be very good

A sad loss for the organisation. I've been following Guy's writing in the press for the last couple of decades and agreed and disagreed with him in equal measure, but his honesty and dedication to UK agriculture could never be in question.

I took him to be a reformer and had high hopes that he could finally fix the stagnant and unrepresentative union. Maybe his ambition to do so was his downfall?

I sincerely wish him every success in whatever he chooses to do next. Banging heads together in another hopeless quango such as the AHDB would be a great start!

I'm not an NFU member so my opinion doesn't really count I suppose. Guy comes across as a nice chap, I liked the fact that he came on here to answer questions and debate. It's a shame he did get to stay on because I think he had more to give.
However, Tom is a top bloke. I've known him through young farmers and worked for him too. He contract farms nextdoor to me and his family used to manage this farm as well. Unfortunately for his dad, I guess his retirement has been pushed back again!
Tom is a member on here too, but I see he hasn't been on since 2016, perhaps @Clive can persuade him to log on again?

Interestingly to me that begs the question of why you aren’t an NFU member.

No stick to beat you with here.....more that if the NFU can’t attract you as a member, how can they persuade even less connected people to join.

I am a member and the current officers fo not look at all edgy in fact rather the reverse. I do not know them personally but Guy always acted and looked like he could think outside the box.
And where we are going now we need all the edginess we can get!
