How long for an Ifor?

Our local ifor Williams dealer has become like ifor themselves, completely disinterested in customers.
They were meant to be ringing me back with an idea on delivery 2 weeks ago, trailer ordered July 21…. Heard nothing, They had a big show last week with ifor trailers there. I know they will be all sold, but still….
Bollox to em I’m off to ring nugent dealer and Graham Edwards ,hopefully they’ll want my custom .

The one I’ve ordered is a twin axle- I’ve had one for a few years and it’s fine. I could easily massively overload it with lambs if I wasn’t being careful and adding an axle cuts down on the payload.
The local dealership has had a couple of tri-axles in the yard for a few weeks so I assume they are for sale. I’m losing confidence in their salesman though who hasn’t been able to give me any idea of when I can expect my trailer. He was explaining that they are constructed in batches so lots of 14ft were made and delivered before Christmas but my 12ft trailer will be waiting on them making a batch of 12fts. I pointed out that I ordered a 14ft at which point he spun 180degrees on what he was saying…🙄 Hence I’m not sure whether I believe them.
Do you have a confirmation of order? From your conversation with the salesman to me it sounds as if there is the possibility he may not have put the order through and trying to bullsh*t his way out of why it has not been delivered.

Out of interest, why is the wait so long for Ifor trailers? Are no other brands near the same quality? or are the lead times the same everywhere?
not a lot in it in any of these stock trailers regardless of manufacturer. So if it were me I wouldnt wait a million years for one brand, but see what’s available and go from there.

I’m pretty sure that it was ordered. In hassling the rep this week, he let slip that the order was actually made in Nov ‘21- they must put in standing orders then spec them later when people actually put their names on them (a yer ago this week in my case).

On hassling him further (cos he keeps telling me he’ll get back to me and then doesn’t), he said he’d phoned IW three times but they hadn’t got back to him, so 🤷‍♂️

It’s f**king horrible.

Really light gauge inch and a half box crossmembers rather than beefy angle iron. They have rope hooks and holes chopped in to the bottoms a few inches in for ratchet straps - really shonky, very weak.

I’m not in to Indespension units, either. Give me metal any day. Just in the same way as I dislike elephants foot suspension - I want springs, not sex toys!

If you want something big standard then you will get it quicker. That has been the case for years there I bought a trailer from them I think in 2014 and there was a very long wait for a dp120 with the opening at the front to make it easier to load. Same trailer without one was a lot less time.
Bought a flat trailer from Brian James from a local dealer a few years ago Ifor Williams customer service is shocking poor.
They don't make parts of the trailers in China though. Only a couple of miles from the factories here and see lorry loads of part trailers on the road all the time shifting from one factory to another. They probably source things like hitches, wheels, hubs or something like that from China but everyone does.

Apart from the qustionable build quality and the rattles one of my biggest gripes with the Ifor's is the Knott hitch unit they use, its a hitch for left hand drive vehicles, the jockey wheel and adjuster handle is on the left hand side which is a pain in the ballix as you have to step over the drawbar each time to hitch up/unhitch and the jockey wheel hits a jeeps swinging back door very early.

Ordered new 14ft July 21, started chasing IW in November 22, was promised trailer was being built and definitely would be with dealer before xmas. Chased again 2 weeks ago, told its made but have no idea when it will be sent to dealer. Very poor customer services, no help and no apology for delay! It will be my last IW trailer i buy!
