How to get GPS speed reading to an RDS Artemis controller?

I want to get a speed reading from our Patchwork Blackbox3 onto my Artemis controller, and not from the radar.
I have the correct cable and had a go yesterday but couldn’t get it to work, what settings do I need?
Can I save the settings for 2 different spreed readings (Radar and GPS?)

Which Artemis head unit?
If it’s the Psi8000 I’ve done a few in the past (one still on farm) and can probably point you in the right direction.

Yes, the big Psi8000
From memory, your baud rate and nmea format / language obviously need to match on both devices.
You need to select your port combinations on the RDS, and if the GPS cable is 9 pin ‘D’ then you need to use the top port of the 2 small ones on the rear, and in the settings menu select the option that uses top port for GPS and bottom port for the SD card slot (behind the rubber flap on the front rhs). Sorry if I’m teaching you to suck eggs.

I had to have new software added to my psi8000 for it to work
Thats odd. I've added Trimble GPS to 4 PSi's on a combine yield meter, sprayer (still using), fertiliser spreader to do VRA (using a sprayer head unit!), and Horsch CO4 (again to use VRS maps).
On each one adding GPS was 'plug and play'. The only time the software was looked at in 15 / 20 years was to add an Apollo soil mapping module chip to the combine head unit so it could be used on a quad bike for soil sampling. The Psi8000 is probably the most stable control unit platform I've ever encountered, it's always been spot on straight out of the box.

That’s what I did, but got the symbol of the satellite with a cross.
Is it possible to save more that one speed setting on the Psi8000?

If it’s seeing the GPS unit you can’t be far off! It’s a settings issue, baud rate or language compatibility. Can you select the export format on the Blackbox?

Re saving the radar and GPS settings, I don’t know. I suspect you’ll have to toggle between the input sources in settings, but each input option should remember it’s selected options and calibration, shouldn’t be too bad. Its quite intuitive to use and set up.

@towns used to be the man to speak to at RDS, but don’t think he’s been seen for a long time?

Hi @Rob Holmes , Tom @ Topcon Technology here (formerly RDS). Artemis PSi can't use GPS for forward speed unfortunately, it can only use a pulsed signal (like radar or our Satspeed unit that converts GPS into pulses).
As you mention @PSQ, you can get GPS forward speed into most PSi instruments, but Artemis is the exception to the rule.
You can normally pick up the radar output from the tractor ISO plug as another option, but you either have to run a wire back into the white junction box, or you can connect into the harness in the cab, but it takes a bit of careful soldering.
You can setup variable rate via serial,or we can take a GPS speed to run VRA maps from the SD card, just not forward speed.

I'm trying to remember how to do this with my GD drill for vari rate seed.

Got the cable, know the output from my fm750 screen comes out the plug down the back of the cab, changed the speed input to gps/isobus on the artemis (combi bridge is the integral gps unit on the drill) .

Cannot remember what else I had to do!!!!!

Wish I'd written more down now.

Don't panic Mr Mainwaring, I forgot I had to enable the nmea output from the diagnostics port from the 750.
Fingers crossed it'll work tomorrow.
