Creeping thistle? If they are in flower it should work. Marsh and scotch would be too late I would think.
With thistles in grassland, a wiper is always my go to.

I did this on a small paddock last Sept and got a great kill rate. Hardly any came back this spring. I think weakening them now means they struggle to survive the winter.

Done some early spring with above mix and it's done a real good job , another dose next spring and they will be sorted .

Timing is everything with Thistlex.
I would have thought April was too early as some Creeping Thistle won't have grown much if at all. May sees the best kill when growing really fast.
The wet conditions have meant a lot more thistles have germinated late as well this year.

No point in using an expensive spray at this time of the year when the results may be variable.

I hope not, I sprayed some last week which are starting to die off and did a few more yesterday. I guess we’ll see come spring if it was worth it

I've spot sprayed thistles with Forefront in late November.

Total kill.

But then Forefront does work a bit differently so maybe not a guide for a different product.

They have. Mixed a little fluroxypyr with some thistlex to hot it up (homemade pastor) and the sprayer nozzles blocked solid with an insoluble salt. Luckily only 100litres left in the sprayer but I won’t be doing it again

It's getting a bit late on, but I heard someone had good results with a mix of Grazon & 24D - not sure if it's an approved mix though...
