James Dyson tops UK Rich List

I always have the thought that it’s amazing how selling fancy things to pick crumbs up and dry your hair can enable you to buy a massive farming outfit to feed people
I reckon that Dyson is a clever sod for 2 reasons - a: being an engineering genius for designing a compact, powerful electric motor to put
in his vacumn cleaners, and b: turning a machine for vacumning dust off the floor into a "must have fashion accessory".
Back in the 70's - 90's, when militant feminism was on the rise, asking a woman to "push the hoover around the house" was asking for
a quick trip to A+E to have parts from said hoover, removed your anatomy. These days, ask a woman to "drive a Dyson" and all is
sweetness and light !!

It's an odd thing this Rich List.

Does anyone actually care? If they do, why?
Journalists do, it gives them a juicy headline. Like the one about Starmer owing millions of pounds worth of land. Which turns out to be a 7ac grass field in a green belt.
Ah, but it “could” be worth millions if he sold it covered in houses.
using that logic, a lot of folk on here would be billionaires, just need to plant some financial districts.
journalists are tits.

Minor point, but many of "his" inventions are actually the work of others. Where he has excelled is in the application & implementation of those inventions & ideas, along with clever marketing - although it hasn't always worked!

As to him being top of the rich list? I'm too busy enjoying my own life to be bothered with envy, which is what such things are about. Whatever his faults, JD started out reliant his wife's income, he dared to take on the big names - his success and philanthropy speaks for itself.
