cant comment on specifics but contractor i use has jd auto power everything he loves them, cant rate them highly enough and does alot of hours.

Hes just upgraded something similar (30 series to new r)but was kind of saying they still only do same job is there really such a difference worth justifying!

Make sure you get one with upgraded proccesor brain , ,can do a lot more with screen and greenstar ,
2x 215's here ,touchwood , had nothing yet apart from add blue pump under warranty , just under 10 k hours between them now ,they both suffer the flat battery syndrome , when you start them ,some time like flat battery ,its some valve in back end not letting pump pressure go , and check thread on engine oil filler casting , some have worn and cap comes off ,
Oh if you get one , will send you pics of flaps you make to stop crap going on back cab suspension mounts

I have a 7830. I rented a 6210r two years ago for a few month because i had a breakdown on another tractor just prior of spring work. Power is about the same, weight a little less, probably capable of about the same. But the cab has much less leg room. I hated sitting in that cab and bought a 7930 instead, as everyone told me not to touch the first gen 7r and the newer ones where too dear for me.

As above get a demo I hate sitting in my 6R but can sit in my 78 and 79 all day no bother . Other than that they're good a mate who works for a contractor has 1 he's on his second the first was gutless his current one is a 2018 and goes pretty well and he outs plenty hours on with very few issues so far

I’ve had a 6215R for 3000 hours on the sprayer in 30 months. Operator and I both like it a lot. Pretty sound so far, touch wood. It replaced a 7930 that to be honest I preferred driving but it cost £10k/year each to keep them going. Sold 2 of them with 9500 and 11500 hours on from new.

I run a 6215r 2017 on my trailed sprayer. Love driving it, buts it's been an awful machine for reliability. Granted most of the trouble has been with the direct drive transmission. But it's in at the doctors currently having a new turbo. As a JD man, its put me off them. Disappointing. Spent over 2 months of its life in the dealers.

Marshalfarm why did u buy direct drive over IVT? Is there a practical reason for such a decision? I’ve had 5 JD’s since 2017 and I have never considered for a New York minute DD,

Has the direct transmission been expensive to repair? Any circlip trouble?

Not sure about him but my boss went for them as a simpler anyone can drive option on his 1st 3 deeres for contracting with. Auto power isnt for every 'operator ' and that other crow bar shift isnt for anyone since about 1990.
Turns out dd is no use either due to reliability so hopefully he'll change colour or at least get command pro autopower which is actually nice to use.

We have 7 r series here, mostly reliable. Mine is on 5000 hours and only major issue has been the inner wheel bearing, couple of sensors but dealer sorted in no time and machine straight back out. Pick up my new one tomorrow and hope it is as good. Had a fastrac before and the only thing i miss is the comfort, other than that id rather my jd over anything.

Ah yes, crowbar shift- suits people of a particular shape; I'm not entirely certain what sort of people but folk from around Bridgewater are known to have a right arm longer than the other so perhaps JD designed it with them in mind. Might also explain the fact the seat is set to one side of the steering wheel to compensate for the fact you will be bent in half all your life driving one. Also the button on the floor for your third leg to engage the diff lock which gives full and permanent three-wheel drive.

We have a dd 6215. It got recalled for the circlip issue. The tip of it had broken off when they got in there to replace it. But we do 1200hrs a year on ours and no issues. Have a 6215 command pro now that’s 6 months old and is fantastic. Personally the only thing I would want to do is swap the seat for a 7r one but really they do the job.
