how much of an effort do people make to keep their farm tidy?
what do you do with your oil drums, fluke/worm drenches etc and all other general rubbish?

Drench bottles recycling. Baler twine finds alternative purposes. Plastic oil drums get used, reused and "cut up" for alternative purposes. Metal drums 205's get used for all sorts of things until their final journey to the scrapie, filled with all the small metal bits that would otherwise fall out or of the load.
Wood/pallets- no comment.

The bugger is old fence wire. Scrappies up here dont like it.

the best thing we've done is have a 600l wheelie bin in the yard , emptied once a month .
no saving waste for annual skip / fire
no bags of rubbish
no silage wrap blowing

can get a lot of stuff in squashing down with the loader.

sometimes the bin men come more than once a month when were feeding lots of silage and putting Fert on ;);). coincidentally found a couple of crates of beer left on top at Christmas helps farmer-binmen relationships

The trick with barbed wire is to cut it up into shorter lengths.
Squashed with a tractor bucket, then driven over a few times with the tractor. Did some rylock the same and got the scrappy to take it. Squash it really tight. I've found what they won't tolerate is bits of loose wire that gets tangled in their machinery...which is understandable.

As I use bales, roll up silage wrap and put into used fertiliser bags. String goes straight into another bag. Got a waste carrier’s license and take it all to local landfill in the spring. Can take triple rinsed spray cans too.

Some people are tidy and make a fair effort and some people are utter pigs.
Some of the tidiest farms I know are tenanted aswell, I think a lot is just installed through the generations. I try to be tidy, but when work is busy things get dropped and left.

There’s one social media person who seems to get more follows the more he batters his truck, can’t really work it out myself.

To keep the place tidy, I follow the wife around to pick up her " debris" drop and run is her motto , especially cable ties that end up in the midden
