It may be, but there just aren't the numbers to do it 'hard' with troops everywhere. Put them in visible places and point the TV cameras at them, that would be most of the job done. (y)

Agree with that.

But to have heard almost exactly the same thing from 2 sources tonight, I think we maybe have to accept it will happen (in some form)

Whereabouts are you? Mrs Danllan sees them on the A40 roundabouts on her way to work.

When I was in the Army - up to the mid-90s - we didn't have enough troops to do that, nowhere near enough, even with the TA etc., and there were a hell of a lot more soldiers then than now. Possible in localised areas (see below), but not very likely unless there is a major flouting of the rules.

Interesting scenarios in NI... @alex04w and co.?

Very interesting. Certainly a much tougher line than GB (so far).

I was amused at Naomi Long's comments (Justice Minister, Alliance Party).

She said there was nothing new in these directions. They were merely to give the police powers to enforce what had already been announced. :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

I dont remember the maximum group of 2 or powered to allow the Exevutive to force businesses to close.

The new powers being backed up with fixed penalty tickets and fines up to £5,000.

Government are saying tonight they are going to go for a tougher lockdown.

No date given but they announce all the big stuff on Monday's or Fridays.

So suspect it will be either this Monday or next Monday.

Army have already been pictured out stopping cars today.

Take supermarkets last week, overnight they made people queue for hours just like some basket case country in Africa just to get food for no good reason!

They have always intended to do this super lockdown regardless of the number of deaths from this virus, it has got nothing to do with saving lives or the NHS.

Country will grind to a halt if they go further and even the basics like food will be few and far between.

What would say the reason is then?

Population control, now no one now in the UK has any rights, very much like China.

Its said tonight that Boris will write to every household next week explaining the rules under the super lockdown and what you will be allowed to do and when and what happens if you don't comply.

If the above is the case then its going to get very nasty before long and wont end well.

This is posted by our local paper tonight:

The Prime Minister will write to every UK household to urge them to stay at home, protect the NHS and save lives.

A letter from Boris Johnson will land on the doorsteps of 30 million households across all four UK nations from next week.

In the £5.8million exercise, the Prime Minister will outline the guidance everyone should follow and the measures the Government has put in place to fight coronavirus and to support businesses and workers.

He will urge everyone to follow the rules to save lives and thank NHS staff working round the clock as well as everyone volunteering their time to protect others.

Mr Johnson will say: “We know things will get worse before they get better. But we are making the right preparations, and the more we all follow the rules, the fewer lives will be lost and the sooner life can return to normal.

“I want to thank everyone who is working flat out to beat the virus, in particular the staff in our fantastic NHS and care sector across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

“It has been truly inspirational to see our doctors, nurses and other carers rise magnificently to the needs of the hour. Thousands of retired doctors and nurses are returning to the NHS – and hundreds of thousands of citizens are volunteering to help the most vulnerable.

“That is why, at this moment of national emergency, I urge you, please, to stay at home, protect the NHS and save lives.”

When Boris says one thing he normally does the total opposite so nothing would surprise me!

I hope your right and im very wrong.

But its all over the Daily telegraph website tonight that boris is going to write to every UK home..

And that will likely mean only one thing..

As has been said above - police, army, raf and navy combined there are simply not enough forces staff to control the population like you suggest.

Peacefully, as part of virus control maybe at a push. But if this was to become "state law" I tell you now the peasants would revolt and govt wouldn't survive.
