Malting barley numbers

I have some decent planet, 1.55 N, 98% germ etc.

Trouble is there were two pieces of ergot in the sample.

£12 malting barley premium
£20? Colour sorting charge if you can get one.
£30? cost of rejection at maltsters with haulage etc.

Feed barley in the 140s.

It's properly rubbish.

Will premiums jump up to £50+?

Will they just import it all?

Who knows.

Good yields and a sizeable carry over, won’t be holding my breath for big spot price. Talk round here that could be a sore year for crops without contract.

I'd say for that measly premium your first loss is your best loss. Send it for feed and forget the agro

Most of the lorries I sent into central storage had 1-4 pieces of ergot in.

This is what we have seen so far,

Hi
Slightly of topic but I try and grow malting barley in Ireland. Just wondering what is the min kph they allow. Our intake have brought in 63kph min, but because alot wasn't making spec they are allowing 60-63 kph but with €25 deduction which I think is a bit steep. What do they allow in the UK.
Thanks
