I wonder if it's because of the impact on police licencing teams of these medical report requirements?
We all need to hassle our MPs, the NFU, the CLA and the BASC about this because it CAN'T go on.
Which they don't like doing because there's just as much work in an interim licence as the proper one.mine took over 60 days medical then the firearms lot took another 40 days they had to issue interim licences
But this piece says those forces are simply returning the application with no explanation or renewed certificate!mine took over 60 days medical then the firearms lot took another 40 days they had to issue interim licences
never did that with me sensationalist journalism maybe it just took a bloody age that my licence expired and they sent out a months extensionBut this piece says those forces are simply returning the application with no explanation or renewed certificate!
Where does that leave you, legally?
Was that Wales or Bedfordshire?never did that with me sensationalist journalism maybe it just took a bloody age that my licence expired and they sent out a months extension
Local Smallholder (Dentist - friend) had a visit to inspect his firearms cabinet - He simply told the inspector under oath that his firearms were in a certain room with only one door and no windows and should he (the inspector) be able to locate them then then he was welcome to remove them.My applications for renewal (FAC, Gun licence, and air weapons) was received by Police Scotland at the beginning of November by Recorded Delivery. Doctor has told me he hasn't received any letter (I posted it myself) but he says there is no problem. They are due for renewal on the 16th January (tomorrow). I was told a couple of weeks ago to contact the police if they had not arrived by the 13th. They hadn't so I contacted the police as instructed on the 13th. Police responded that everything was OK, and wanted to know why I was contacting them? Erm, you told me to?
Police Scotland is in total chaos. My guns were returned (after seizure) approximately five years ago. A quick glance at the paperwork revealed that the certificates were incorrect. To save any nonsense, I transferred them to the local firearms deler. Certificates "corrected" and guns returned.
Roll on to January 2022. Police here to check guns and certificates after reports of "two dead horses and vicious dogs". (One guess where that came from!). Everything checked out legal and correct, but FACs did not have any serial numbers recorded. So I have not had legal certificates for the last 5 years. Shrugged off as I am (after all the checks!) known to be OK!
It just goes on and on. Half the problem is badly composed application forms and totally muddled procedures. Complicated forms which the man on the beat can't understand don't help. Legislation for air weapons is more complicated and demanding than firearms forms, but air weapons are controlled by Police Scotland and the rest by the Home Office. Everything seems to be duplicated with ridiculous requests. What relevance is it that I was caught driving at 45mph in a 30mph zone 50 years ago in Edinburgh? Total bollox!
We are not the USA
No one has a "right" to bear arms.
It currently takes longer to get a driving licence than a FAC
