AGR is approx £3k going by a tractor quote in my hand right now. Salesman said be about another £7k for the receiver and processor to have full guidance.

It’s a lovely option but there’s no way I can justify £10k for what I’d use it for. :(

Every deal is different I know but my first steering tractor started with a £7k quote for the GPS, had some other makes on the table and we all quite close, so CNH man brought his area salesman and we got “help” as he called it, from case and the Puma ended up with 710s and GPS chucked in for nothing, and centrepoint included too for 12 months. That was a good moment 😁

Funny how this is the only technology that the price does not drop, should be around £500 now, suppose its because its sold to Farmers.

Thing is it’s a genuinely useful and productive thing to have, it’s still viewed as a luxury or a toy for a lot of folk but it really does benefit you. However at the current prices unless your using it very regularly it just can’t be justified.

This seems very good value? Anybody else looked at this?

A lot cheaper than Trimble or any other traditional brand but they are not directly comparable. AgOpenGPS would be a lot less expensive but neither fair to compare those two.

I'm mostly puzzled about the company behind the product. Would you be happy to purchase a tractor from a company that gives this much info about who they are:

They seem to have a lot of knowledge about GNSS related products but the auto-steer kit does not seem to be mature. A lot of features coming but many basic features missing for the moment. How long are you willing to wait and are they still there when you expect to get the upgrades.

The receiver seems China focused, no Galileo support. L1/L2 however on GPS and Glonass which is good.

I don't know the local supplier, perhaps you can count on them.

I’ve priced up a receiver and controller for a guidance ready tractor. Full rtk using tractor screen 6.5k.

Another 6.5k to have the tractor guidance ready? This FJD kit would not need that. Wonder if the FJD product could make use of the auto-steer ready tractor hydraulic steering for a reduced cost, no need for the electric steering wheel.

Don’t know what it would cost to be guidance ready, this was how I bought the tractor?
I did price up a complete system for my previous tractor to start from scratch, receiver / controller, screen, mechanical steering motor, rtk unlock, was c 10.5 k.

FJD comes in at 1/2 that and the option of your own base station

TBF it’s not like mr bale baron doesn’t have an existing business, he’s hardly likely to jeopardise his reputation by selling crap. I’ve seen this fjd on Facebook being pushed by less reputable companies and the fact it’s sold by bale baron makes me consider it far more seriously.

On Thursday 26th September, we’re holding a webinar for farmers to go through the guidance, actions and detail for the expanded Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) offer. This was planned for end of May, but had to be delayed due to the general election. We apologise about that.

Farming and Countryside Programme Director, Janet Hughes will be joined by policy leads working on SFI, and colleagues from the Rural Payment Agency and Catchment Sensitive Farming.
