We have a T 6.180. Dad has to turn his hearing aids off when driving it! That's how whiney the gearbox is! Good tractor though.

My 2016 T6.165 is awfully whiney but she is a great tractor. The gearbox is mediocre and wouldn't have one again. Will probably go vario on my next one.

On paper the rear lift capacity is pathetic :censored: is that why newholland fit shorter rear arms with not a lot of travel so you have to codge them higher to avoid the PTO on tankers balers ect

From my experience with Nh JD Fendt and MF I have found on the models used the blue arms were longer and according to a slurry pump manufacturer travel a greater distance in his experience of demonstrating pumps

It was a good gearbox in its day no one noticed the noise in the TS and 40 series as the Powerstar engine roared and drowned it out. The FPT is a very quiet engine and that's why you can hear the gearbox. There are two gears 'or cogs!' that make the noise and on the latest versions they have been mechanically polished which has more or less cured it. You can reduce the noise quite a bit like I did on my old T6040 by applying Dynamat or the Silentcoat equivalent to the floor and behind the fan and a sound deadening mat under the seat. https://www.deadening.co.uk/collections/silent-coat
The picture shows my T6.160 Autocommand which was already very quiet showing 69db on a phone app (which I don't really trust sometimes). This tractor didn't really need doing but I have put this stuff in all my vehicles over the years and I can't really help myself some times! Because it was already very quite I went to town on it and took the whole interior out and did over the wheel arches as well. I also put acoustic foam around the the air con blower. The phone now reads 64db at full load which is quieter than many luxury cars.

My 40 series and my 05 mxu both seem quieter than my maxxum 130mc but on a Db meter they're all about the same at 69db. The maxxum is actually slightly quieter at 67-68 but it has the electro command whine which I think is more the pitch rather than actual loudness.
