One oil!

Using the wrong oil can be very expensive. Given up using universal oil years ago. Not worth risking the damage that can occur. I always get correct oil code for every use.

Do you have a machine for every tractor then? Never borrow the neighbours trailer? Soon as you tip a trailer your doing an oil change 😅
Used to pull other people's trailers. Not any more. Used to change backend oil and filters every 500 hrs. But now leave it to 1000 hrs. Never any longer. Engine oil and filter every 250hrs max.

When the trailer is down their is still oil in the pipes and a bit in the ram, this will mix with the tractor oil when tipped and lowered. Double acting rams for the back door will be full of oil in any position.

Why wouldn't you? As long as it's the right spec . We stopped using JD oil here years ago we used to be scared to run anything else in the autopower boxes but they've been fine over many 0000's of hours now
We use Ambra in our JD 6630 and Case Maxxum 135 Cvx. Now that we have the JD 6430 Premium Ap we had to do bit of thinking. But our old JD mechanic said that the Ambra is good for Autopower too, since it is "higher grade" than what JD suggested to use back in 2012.

So Ambra for rear end, Neste for engine and 46S for excavator and self propelled feeder hydraulics.

We have 6 different tractor makes. All different ages from new to old. We have part used oil drums everywhere all different stuff. Is it possible to get one engine oil and one backend oil that will do them all?
Yes.
Probably.

Get the 10W/40 or 15W/40 oil to the latest long drain specification that suits current tractors with cats and selective catalytic reduction [Adblue] and DPF [particulate filters]. This will be suitable for all engines, old and new.

For transmissions a 10W30 or 10W/40 UTTO or Super Universal will do all transmissions with wet clutches/brakes and CVT’s.

You may need some EP oil for front axles and hubs on some brands [others are fine with UTTO or SUTO] and maybe some rear reduction gears, for Fendt for instance. If you have any with limited slip diffs on the front axle that need EP gear oils, get stuff with LS specification because these can be used with or without LSD’s.

This information is generally correct but there may be some exceptions that I’m not aware of. If so they are very rare.
