Only after the vehicle has been dragged to the side !
We get it regular around here ,I just put a strap on them and drag them out into the road . Occasionally they might get some grease under the door handles as an extra .

This has plagued us this year with the covid thing going on and dog walkers from the village driving a 1/4 mile to a quiet lane where we have several field entrances which they use as car parking spaces. Quite why they can't walk the dog to the quiet lane for it to do a turd in the grass is beyond me.

One lady said to me as I was trying to get a sprayer into a field blocked by her car - "It's fortuitous for you that I was nearby."

I replied - "Nah. It's fortuitous for you. I would've just phoned the police and informed them that your car was about to be forcibly removed for illegal parking."

Not an idle threat by the way. The police can be surprisingly helpful in these instances. During the "beast from the east" the one of the entrances to the farm was blocked by a BMW that had been abandoned in the snow. I called the police and asked if they could trace the owner and ask him to move it.

"We don't have the resources for that. I'm sure they will come and move it when the ice thaws."
"But we have an urgent animal welfare issue and it is imperative that we can use the entrance in the next 30 minutes!" (Not really. I had to cart some muck didn't fancy the 3 mile detour from using our other entrance...)
"Oh. I'll see if I can make some calls."
"Well, if you can't help, don't worry, we can move it ourselves."
"Are you a vehicle recovery licence?"
"No, I have a JCB."
"I don't think you can do that...."
"Well I'm going to. In 30 minutes if the car is still there."
"Errr. Please don't. We'll get a car sent to trace the owner."

I gave them the reg number and got a panicked call from the owner in 15 minutes. Who told me the police were on their way to pick him up from his house and take him to his car and get it moved, and please, please, please don't hurt my precious car!

We get them parked next to the pub, they leave enough room to get out of the doors both sides.

Had one the other day by there, people carrier,I just managed to get through with a smaller tractor and a 7’6 wide livestock trailer.

They need to worry if it’s my father, mid 70’s,he just drives through the gap and doesn’t look back.....and doesn’t stop even if he’s hit something.:nailbiting:

We had one park across the open gateway between the rake leaving the field and the chopper arriving an hour later. Luckily for them we had another gate we could use.

I have no sympathy for the first Lady.

The second instance I do have some sympathy as a BMW on run flats don't need much of a sprinkling to put them out of action and to be fair the owner did come out straight away

Don't blame the car, blame the muppet behind the wheel. I run a BMW on run flat winter tyres and it will go anywhere I need - it's as good or better on snow and ice as my Defender. For those without foresight to buy winter tyres, I offer simple advice - if conditions are such that grip may be tricky, leave the car on your driveway. Snow doesn't arrive by surprise, so no excuse to get caught out.

We can all get caught out. It was the Beast from the East according to the OP and maybe he was trying to still get to work. Sometimes you need to cut others some slack

You're right, I do although it's noted that the Beast was preceded by a Red Weather Warning, so no unnecessary travel should have been taking place.

And my main point was missed - BMWs are not sh!t in snow, summer tyres are sh!t in winter.

....or learn to drive the vehicle properly. . It's no excuse for blocking a gateway .
We don't know all the circumstances but if it was a field gateway in a snow storm and it meant the vehicle wasn't in a dangerous position ON the lane, perhaps it was

Maybe he was a hospital doctor still trying to get to work

So many "heroes" on here with tractors and 4x4 at their disposal, as I said (and none of us know the full facts) it was stated it was during the Beast from the East and the OP wanted to tractor some muck away
