McCain's have been buying a lot of scabby Piper from up here which is unheard of,our maincrop yields are back by 15-20% up here on unirrigated,everybody seems to have scab to some degree.
What's their criteria for the piper. Ours are yielding about average but has a bit of scab, even on our higher clay content ground. Hopefully finished today

I can never understand where ahdb get their figures from.

We have got on well with it. Second early and is a good medium term storer.

Don’t store past February/March as they tend to suffer from compression bruising.

You should look at an alternaria program too.

We sell most of our Ramos to Mitchell Potatoes in Warwickshire and they have good demand for it.

What soil type are you on? What is your nematode levels?

Does anyone have any experience of Ramos as a variety? Seems about the only seed I can get atm?

They are a nice potato for an early slot. Do the chipping job well.

Bruise easily, water pre Harvest.

Having said that they were hard to sell in 2017 not that I had any.

It's a name on the back of Lee bags, which is your best guide.

I would say 15-20% of your area, need to be able to water. But only grown the once here so far.

Black Fen mostly, some heavy bits through the fields. PCN range from 0-4. Merchant tells me they bruise easily too.

Yes I had a neighbour who couldn’t sell them very well a few years back.

Think I’ll hold out for something else.

Have been offered £200-£220t for peeling piper. Looks like putting them in a paper bag could be quite lucrative!
