Was there any damage done to the potatoes where they had the most rain?
Some poor souls have lost crop especially around Wainfleet and the surrounding area. Elsewhere in South Lincolnshire it is low holes and patches where water stood that plants have died. Difficult to assess combined area lost. Maybe it equates to the extra area planted compared to 2018? However, on the flip side of crop losses the whole of South Lincolnshire non irrigated crops (the majority of the area) has had a lovely soak and will leave the month of June with soil at full field capacity. Haulm has perked up in past week. So a timely rain. Few more rains in July and we possibly looking at a big crop. Hey ho.
