New from Sipcam available as blackbird amongst other names. BLW contact for autumn use in cereals. Active previously available on potatoes.
Only aware of it due to ad in F guide. Anyone seen any trials or prices? Any spud growers or agronomists care to comment. Non label claim of activity against groundsel caught my eye. Is it going to be useful or a non event?

Any NIAB members care to comment?

Here's a sample Gozai label for the potato product 26.5 grammes/litre and 0.4 litre/ha dose rate;

I'm not sure where this would fit on many autumn cereals unless really weedy.

Groundsel a problem weed. Max dose on cereals 0.15 so not sure how much good that table will be. Not received anything from Niab yet.

Use Florasulam or Tribenuron in Autumn to stop Groundsel getting to big. If an Autumn aphicide required or applied add 50ml hectare Florasulam.
I knew about trib, not florasulam. You must have used gozai/and or seen trial results? It’s always exciting to see a new mode of action(at least I think it is).

Here you go, label for Blackbird: https://www.sipcamuk.co.uk/wp-conte...Blackbird-1L-UK-Bottle-Label-260x150mm-v2.pdf

No groundsel recommendation.

Selective use had never occurred to me - duh.

With no grass weed activity it is not alas something to ring glyphosate changes in resistance management and indeed sometimes formulated with glyphosate.

Top Tip: Always read the label no matter how busy you are.

I have read the label thank you. Many products have activity on weeds not on the label, hence my questions.

I have only just heard of this product too
Although not on the Label, I have it on good authority that it has activity on thistles and groundsel
Priced similar to equivalent dose of Hurricane so could be an interesting inclusion ?
Thank you. At DFF money it’s a very interesting proposition. I’d rather not use an autumn SU on groundsel.

There is a season limit on florasulam which if you were using Broadway Star/Palio, you could feasibly exceed.

I guess you are thinking of managing the amount of SUs used from a resistance management aspect too? Groundsel isn't really susceptible to many hormones (2,4D, mecoprop, MCPA etc) though aminopyralid twists it up pretty well in Astrokerb on osr.

Yes. Don’t use much florasulam, but could conceivably use tribenuron for groundsel early follow ed by an ally type product later on. Might also need a grass weed SU. As you say I’d rather use a different mode of action if possible. Lots of threads on difficulty of controlling groundsel. Can in certain situations be more competitive than is often recognised imo.
