Still haven't got any or double glazing and insulation here
didn't have double glazing in the old days, what we did have was de -humidifiers we called single glazing, where the damp condensed and ran outside through channels instead of inside cupboards and leather shoes.

It was explained very simply on Radio4 this morning. Russia has got good at creating mini crisis at the door of Europe with the aim of Europe asking for help so it can extract favours.

Putin and Co are very good a Geopolitics. Europe should never have relied on Russia for gas. A lot of people will have to go cold to stand up to Putin. He’s holding a very strong hand.
We should have energy and food security. The idiots in charge have forgotten both. The same goes for China which is an aggressive communist dictatorship that is all out to get inward investment whose western companies it then steals technology from, blackmails, and then sends the goods westwards to undercut western companies while using the profits to buy land and companies in those very western countries. Failing that they lend money to those countries to such an extent that they are again prone to be blackmailed.

Do not buy stuff from these countries if you can avoid doing so. You are putting your own people out of work and letting us be slowly taken over by them. The idiots at State and private company level that thought investing heavily in China and Russia was a good idea need a reality check. It's coming soon to those that have not already had it.

And above all don't educate them here at our top schools and unis to go back and engineer weapons against us.

All old Household waste dumps emit gas. Could it not be captured and burnt? I know there are some old sand and gravel pits in our county that were lined with clay and capped of.
Just a thought!!
WB
Our local capped tip has a gas collection system and a gas engine to generate electricity
some locals campaigned against its installation a few years ago due to perceived noise generation

China relies on the free world to supply its needs of soya
russian economy relies on the sale of energy

isolated countries are more dangerous to world peace

There's a whole bunch of Chinese at Lampeter College campus at the moment. They are kept very isolated from all Western influence and I believe they are here studying Chinese history. Quite bizarre! They are kept so isolated that a female student died the other day from TB without any medical intervention whatsoever. None of them called a doctor for her. Probably under the direction of a political Chinese government official. A very preventable tragedy.

The heads of the top schools go to China to recruit them to pay the fees that the Brits can no longer afford. They beaver away day and night with no other interests other than the subject matter and keep themselves to themselves. Makes you wonder.

I won't worry about heating. I was brought up in a farmhouse in the 70/80's with only open fires and nothing in the way of heat upstairs. Hot water bottle and extra blanket the norm. I hate a stuffy bedroom but wife likes the radiator on. This bungalow is ALL electric!! Not my choice it is owned by my cousin.

The top schools have always promoted themselves to the Chinese, as the govt over there apparently pay half the fees. There's big money in educating Chinese kids here, and those top schools are a business. Full boarding fees are £45k/yr, plus extras, so they are cooking on gas when they fill up with them.

We put up a lad from Beijing for a fortnight a couple of years ago, when NeilO Jnrs school had an exchange (basically to promote the college to them for 6th form). Even though they were on an exchange, and being taught here, he was still doing Chinese homework until after 9 every night. He was a very talented pianist, but had been made to give up lessons to concentrate on his education, as he wasn't talented enough to be professional. His eyes lit up when he saw an old piano sat in the corner here, but education is the be all and end all there. His parents had moved house just to be able to send him to what was one of the top schools in Beijing. He still occasionally messages on Facebook, even though they're not allowed to.

NeilO Jnr's school was known as a pressure cooker environment, and usually results have it in the top 2 or 3 in the country, but those Chinese kids were working at a completely different level. I feel very sorry for them tbh.

What I am getting at is that we could use the burning to produce power like an AD plant and tap it into the grid. Could that not be possible?
Maybe I am daft.
WB
We could incinerate our waste and turn it into community heat and hot water, or heat swimming pools etc....like they did in Gainsborough 100 years ago.

Still, "they" prefer to ship it all to Asia where they tip it in heaps and burn it. Still, out of sight, out of mind.
