My ridge line is 12 months old and I get drenched through in not much rain now. Recommendation from @milkloss I bought a swanndri mosgiel, also bought a £10 windproof golf jumper to go with it as it's not that windproof. Lovely and warm, and kept dry in the north wind and rain today fencing and shifting sheep on keep.

The look is pretty rare though in a knee length blue and black check coat 🤣

Paired up with Kaiwaka bib n brace does just the job

There must be a solution somewhere that doesn't cost the earth, some thing ex-mod surplus gear? Unless of course you want to look more like someone who might appear on Countryfile? #lifestyleshepherd

Any mod waterproof stuff I've tried is hard/uncomfortable to wear and pretty cold (doesn't keep you warm). The sizings are awful and as said - it's all in camo so you look like you've just came back from a tour of Kosovo.

I have a few Ridgeline fleeces which I don't mind wearing as they are very good and didn't cost much. But Im starting to loathe their smocks as workwear... their branding has gone the way of BMW and Audi and you're just looked on as a pr*ck if seen in one. Plus, they aren't very good.

My unbranded Riverside one cost £90 IIRC. Still expensive, but not out of the way for working in - with no badge anywhere to be seen (except inside the collar). Certainly wouldn't be blowing £300 for one

My Ridgeline smock is really comfy and warm. It's just a fücking sponge when it rains.

Think I'll ask for that £600 one for Xmas.

They are very comfy and (maybe too) warm. But waterproof they ain't!... which is supposed to be the whole point of them

£600 I could never bring myself to work in that, I'd have the fear every time I go near a fence or thorns
