Statement from Red Tractor

200 ! ......... Sid what part of 30,000 every DAY are you not getting ? we will have 200 new unique vists in the next 10 mins !

I know the NFU can not stomach the idea that anything else could possibly be popular but this website is a giant now in terms of visits and pages served, if you don't believe me you are welcome to cover our hosting bill ...... its not small !
Clive you keep spouting on about “visits” - how many “visitors” do you get a day, likeiwse, as I asked earlier (no reply), you say that thread had 19000 “visits” but that could have been 10 of us doing 1900 each. So how many actual different visitors do you get each day. If it helps I have probably visited the site 10x today but am only 1 visitor. And yes I need to get off TFF. But sid is right, 400 votes and 29 retweet’s don’t count for much in a RT membership of 46000, now if there are more votes on TFF than taking part in the consultation then 45600 RT members are happy with the status quo, so you beat hope TFF numbers don’t reflect the overall feeling.

i could not be more clear

TFF gets circa 30k unique (different people) visitors a day

the referendum thread has had 19k views in the first 4 days

Thats is giant in website terms,

your visit to a thread only counts once of course

to drill deeper into those metrics involves time and effort in our analytics but can be done, i do not have time right now frankly

Chris has been running some sentiment analysis though I think

So it could be 10 of us visiting the thread 1900 times. In any case those are high figures but an extremely low response rate in % terms.

19k views in 4 days is VERY high

what % of NFU members actually speak ? its no different online

A LOT of people (mostly farmers) are reading this and the many other similar threads there is absolutely no doubt about that
I don't doubt a lot of people are reading it.
But 400 votes? Drop in ocean.

I have no access to the NFU data.

30k a day yet 90% can't be bothered to type a single word.

Its all marketing clap trap.

See it all the time justifying adverting spend, 10 million people will have seen this or that.
Don't mean they are going to engage let alone purchase anything!

For what it's worth I have completed the RT consultation for crops. It isn't that hard to go through, basically asks you if you agree, partly agree or disagree (as well as n/a) to each proposal and there is space to comment in each section and a space to write what you like at the end. No doubt if you are too shouty/sweary you will be ignored but tell them calmly, clearly and firmly what you think of RT. It might be on their terms how you tell them but at least you will be able to say you told them if they aren't listening here.

It's the same with Defra consultations, if you don't take the time to do them coming on TFF and moaning about them banning urea fertiliser if you haven't done the consultation.
100% agree.

If you don't vote don't complain about the government

46000 I wouldn't have guessed the number was that high tbh.

All TFF is doing is showing the feelings over RT.
Its NOT putting your point of view across as much as FB is representing the GP in an election.

Its a talking shop, a source of valuable information and a way of solving issues.

Its can also be good (and sometimes sadly bad) for peoples mental health.

as i say how many of the NFU’s members ever bother to attend a meeting? and how many at the meeting speak up ?

where is their Red Tractor referendum ? and how many voted would it get ?

online or real life fact is most people are happy to observe and not stick there neck out
Well they don't all attend everyone.

I have no interest in attending a poultry meeting or a pork one.

Same as not everyone visits every section on here, or even every thread.

Break the visitors down to per thread.
Thats when you find out how many would attend a meeting on "How to change the ojama flip on a 2010 Shaftturn 6285"

as I say 19k on the referendum thread alreaty and countless more on the other RT threads

if you visit a thread it only counts once

Dont you have anything constructive to do? Dont wish to be rude but youre like a petulant little child with your carry on, on and on and on.
Fine if you have a point then make it but please stop going over old ground, it adds zero to the thread

all opinions and points if view are welcome

repetition doesn’t move debate on however and doubt over numbers Tff reaches is just a bit silly given (verifiable) facts
How many views on consultation compared to RT website?
Maybe thats had more...or less?

@Clive I am not disagreeing with you numbers.
I am trying to get it clear in my mind so that when I quiz a RT representative in a meeting I have some evidence to show the level of concern

Getting a bit off topic, so I'll only do this one post on the subject.

I've got a tractor website that gets reasonable visitor numbers (not as many as this site though!). Someone's clicking on the Google Ads, so I presume they're humans. I imagine Google Analytics is pretty good at telling the difference between a person and a bot.

My email list is 10k people. So a good sample size. Mailchimp tells me how many have clicked from email to website, then I get google adsense data. It all pretty much concurs and compares with google analytic visitors and adsense clicks on the days that I haven't sent an email out.

So I recon Clive's figures are correct.

Bounce rate and time spent on page is useful way of assessing if the visitor was engaged with the content.

402 votes on RT thread out of 30,000 .

Doesn't seem a very high hit rate to me?

Even 402 arable farmer, what percentage of UK arable farmers is that ?

Clive asked for the TFF poll to be re tweeted on twitter, 26 people have. Again a very small percentage.

Do you think RT will get more or less responses to its consultation?
How do you get farmers to speak up?
hold your horses sunshine, the poll is on Red Tractor ACCS which is assured combinable crops. So I didn't vote as we don't grow any any more. But we are red tractor assured for dairy and beef, as no doubt are many others on here, as well as those in sheep, pigs and fresh produce. I will be replying to the consultation but the poll on TFF didn't include my sector so I didn't vote.

That’s why I didn’t vote on the ACCS poll too.

However my dairy processor insists that I am an RT member in order to supply them.
I would suggest that a raft of the requirements are, at best, lunatic and bring no value to my milk

Tell em what you think in the consultation. And while your at it, send an email as well, maybe also to some board members and Minette Batters. It might eventually sink in.
