Still cutting

How much is left to do out there. I'm down to 120 acres of wheat (which is ready) and 100 of sb which has just been sprayed off (may20th sown). The wheat would have been done but some breakdowns put us behind. was down to 21% yesterday but back up to 25+ on a hand sample today, ok forecast for rest of week so will get it nailed. There is a bit of sprouting as since that last week of hot weather (when we had only just started) we've been getting broken weather with 75mm in August and 66mm this month so far. Still its helping the root crops!

Got my linseed to do yet.
The rain following the drought has resurrected it, reflowering, setting new pods, so it's had glyphosate annoyingly.
Was looking like going off no worries naturally until the rain came
Should get it in the next dry week

To put the weather into some sort of perspective we have had 66mm total rainfall since the 11th May (4months)! -5mm August, 0mm July-

Well I went once round first field on Friday, was 30%mc so once was enough!

I thought it’d be drier than that but no. Propcorn is around £1.90/l here so don’t want to be cutting wet barley.

Hats off to you guys as we have all been a bit blasé about harvest this year. Often we are hoping for an Indian summer to get finished . I hope you get a hot week soon .

I can understand it in the north of Scotland, but what the hell are you doing with wheat to cut in Lancashire? Is it spring wheat?
