Being a beef farmer myself I am quite parshal to a nice piece of steak, but like yourself I couldn't eat all 328 of my stock so we sell them.

How much will the rest of your stock be worth with competing cheaper imports from your fellow states? After all you said you in courage free trade within the block.

Now I'm not that nieve to think there won't be any cheap imports after the eu slings it's hook, but these Pacific islands love meat and that ain't a bad thing in a beef farmers mind. ?

You should be asking that question yourself as you try and compete with US hormone infused beef.

Now of course, COP is the burning issue to us all.
We own the farms, no rent, mortgage or borrowing on any machinery, animals or crops in the ground. We own every single piece of kit we could need (and more ).
We find, that between us my wife and I are prepared to work 7,000/year for 1 small wage. I think we are now pretty efficient at what we do.
When push comes to shove and I am sure it will, I am confident that our COP is sufficiently low to “out bust” very many competitors.
On top of all that, I am 60 this year and frankly pretty well set, so if I do find it a drag I will mearly sell and live a comfortable retirement. (I am glad I was not born in 83 and do worry for my kids but so far they do fine at looking out for themselves (smart enough not to farm)

I hope you are similarly secure(y)

Like I said in my quote I'm not nieve to think cheap imported meat will stop coming in on the day we leave.

What worries me more is the prodicted mass unemployment there will be in this country and possibly the world.

Oh dear....page 5...and no one's mentioned chlorinated chicken.
Looks like it falls to me to mention chlorinated chicken.
I wonder if mentioning chlorinated chicken is racist
It's definitely woke, if not racist.

But UK financial advisors would deem that as very inefficient, that you aren't fully sweating your assets. :D

COP is on our minds everyday, how can we do things cheaper but to the same standard without compromising animal health. Its a question that is almost impossible to answer!

By the way you should be proud of your limousin cattle. We have ran a limo bull here for nearly 30 years, wouldn't be without one!

No hanging here! ?

Hope you like the taste of polish beef, got the feeling your going to be eating plateful of the stuff!
Polish beef is likely to be readily available at present, why will that change if the UK joins TPP ?
The countries that are already in that partnership have well structured agriculture marketing organisations in place, it is extremely likely that the UK will be importing Canadian wheat, eating plenty of South American beef and New Zealand lamb, all washed down with a good Australian red.

I hope you are not relying on the Pacific Islands to sell your meat to, they have fairly small populations and are well supplied by near neighbours.

To put it simply. Ever since 1982 I’ve been told to wear a seat belt (and ever since I dont, as my own little protest)
What friggin difference does it make whether that instruction comes from London, Paris or Brussels? The instruction is the same
Your seatbelt protest is awful. If you are in an accident, and badly injured due to not wearing a seatbelt, everything and everyone needed to save and then care for you are being used up from a finite resource. Somebody else might die because an ambulance wasn't available to get to them in time, or there isn't enough blood available or because you are in the operating room instead of them... and all that because you 'object' to wearing a seatbelt...? :banghead:

If some other pr i ck acted in such a way and, as a result, Mrs Czechmate or your daughter were to die, or maybe a child you know, you would be rightly outraged. Think about it, you would never see them again, no chats, no hugs, just them rotting slowly somewhere in a grave, or as ashes in a jar. Think about it.

I have been of this conclusion for a long time now...

farming COP is low because, let’s face it compared to other jobs, it’s fun, so, farmers will work long years for low pay!
There is no way around it.
I saw a classic comparison my whole childhood. My mum was a teacher, bloody good wage and at work 1,000 hours per year. Can you imagine it?

I would rather deal with cattle than a load of unruly kids. :ROFLMAO:
