I know. It's pretty shocking @Hindsight . Another keyboard warrior employed by no less than The Times, who hasn't got a clue. His level of naïvety is not uncommon among the English though. It seems to be widespread. But I don't blame that directly on individuals. It's something that seems to happen to folks who are part of the majority of people, in a land which is pretty self-sufficient. I noticed it very much a few years ago when on holiday in America. Many of them classed Canada as foreign travel, for example. Bless 'em. You see, they don't have to understand the world beyond their self-sufficiency, and their majority population (mostly white Caucasian), and so the result is a rather insular outlook.
But you'd hope someone writing for The Times, in the cosmopolitan hub of the UK, would have broader horizons.

The prices paid to farmers is up a lot in the last year , milk beef grain and lamb are all up considerably .The price of food isn't what farmers receive though.
Even if we recieve 2021 prices in 2022, margins will be reduces due to the hike in prices of consumables and equipment
