80mm here in NE Scotland since last Thursday 3rd December.
101 since the 1st. I've been keeping records for 7 years and this is the wettest.80mm here in NE Scotland since last Thursday 3rd December.
It is the middle of winter.
I just googled crapweathershire and it said it could not be found but a map of Pembrokeshire appeared.Bump.
Maybe it's rose tinted specs, but 30 years ago, I quietly spent the winter ploughing during numerous dry spells. Hell, we even planted early spuds in February some years. This year I haven't ventured out into the fields at all since September. And August/ September weren't great either, struggling to combine, struggling to bale straw, and struggling to get straw off the fields.............
Aye and with two wheel drive tractors too !!!! No doubt about it we are going through a wetter winter period .Maybe it's rose tinted specs, but 30 years ago, I quietly spent the winter ploughing during numerous dry spells. jumpers for goal postsWinter or not, were well up on rainfall averages. Remember the Olden days? Frosty bonfire night. Drizzle. Now it's Jetstream overhead and every weather event is half an inch.
as of today at 5pm we have had 185mm of rain in january so far plus 117 mm in december and im more or less level with you albeit east which would normally be drier, this is the highest total for january that im aware of 166 being the highest before in 35 years but the norm/average is about 40-45so we have had 300mm which in old money is a foot when total for most years has been around under 30inch, and the land is saturated as it has never been before in my time here and despite crops well sown /established they are now starting to suffer and with this wet there is feck all i can do to help them as the soil temps are very lowEven 12 months ago we had most of the winter ploughing done despite not having got much corn in. We haven't turned a furrow since November & that was 1 field since early October.
