Mole Avon Credit account slashed

none of us (youngsters)did imo, else we would've been a bit less enthusiastic.....

Dad always used Tuckers seeds back then , actually, better Quality / Varieties ... yes dearer.

most of Mv andMA stuff was at the lower cost end of things so to speak but the it was a good stir up none the less.

Mole Valley was and is always mostly cheaper than MA as its a far bigger buyer.

You can run them down if you like but we would be worse off without them,.... by far....

I'm still in mourning for our local Tuckers branch.
I did try t'other one for my annual lorry load of granules lately, but got shunted along phone lines to a boy who wasn't able to begin talking about it, expressing surprise that there seemed to be a lot o calls about fert 'at the minute'.

MVF shunted me along the same, but someone with some nouse did soon get back to me, after hours even.

I see they give a ha'penny discount if you give them power to take the payment themselves, (as Finnings/CAT insist upon if you're to open an account).
Not in a million years sh*tkicker!
I'm seldom near the mark, but it can happen, and when it does, I want that decision myself thanks.
(Ne'er mind the safety of having to make the payment yourself means you're seeing the figures yourself -or Mrs E is, at least)

It's a strange old world, where we would save tuppence, shop around everywhere, then wonder why there's no personal service in expanding cut-throat conglomerates....leading to a rise from the floor again. The cycle of trade i s'pose.

We have lost quite a few small independents in recent years around here , but I dont think it's gone quite as well as the big ones planned , still plenty of buying options to keep their price pinned down . Local big one, Drainage Coil £139 small independent who is pulling a lot of trade since he started up £98 , same coil

Enquired with local "specialist " on 4 items
£425 each,
google brought them down to £377 each.
Ebay brought them down to £318 each.
So I looked on the ebay companies website £289,
So I picked up the phone, I'd like 4 please what's the best deal?
£254 each plus free delivery.

I guess the question is do you support the local guy as much as possible, but we all have to survive, trouble is if you don't when you want something right now you can't do that with the internet as easy.

Emergency water fittings we use to get in village, yes they were twice the price of MVF but saved pounds in fuel.

Value for money is key?

Unfortunately, MVF logistics to deliver feed and fert do need a careful looking through and tweak, still. They are good with their local delivery vans, though.
Harpers are right on top of things, as is Bridgman's - and Bridgman's is MVF owned (mostly).

I was in a MVF some years ago, and another customer asked me if Mole Avon had different prices at their different shops. His local seemed dearer. I explained where he was - he hadn't realised.
He happened to be in the queue at the yard later, and said he'd taken note of prices. He reckoned it was well worth his while making a big list of things to buy when next in the area, without member's discount.

I was referring to the days before Tuckers diversified into the 'country store' thing. There was always a rep around that Dad knew and they used to store a bit of seed at the Old Maltings at the bottom bottom of Jockey Hill, in Kirton.
'Twas back in the day (happy ones mind ?) when i was full of fresh ideas from Bicton ...☺

iirc it was M. Avons grass seed that i went for as i started to farm in my own right...and also seeds from another Local company W,J. Reed & son, Mr Colin Reed , particularly nice man to deal with and he would supply Fert and buy grain also...

Trouble is with the fert the storage requirements altered the whole game and it became (AN) very difficult to store commercially and satisfy there insurers, bit after that time it still used to get dropped and stored at Lapford on the Trains, then stored there or distributed to local farmers and other small agri. business's like WA Davey's etc.

Ive rambled on ....

but boy how times have changed.?‍♂️

Was a lot. Some thing like a 4bed house rent per month

They will easily take £800 a day on Friday/Sat/Sunday in normal times ( not currently of course )

Weekdays anything from £400 to £800.

Very profitable I would suggest.

As for MA, I would be surprised if they are still trading in 12 months time unless they are bought out by a competitor!

I would have thought from where you are Mole Avon is easiest to get to rather than MVF.

Mole valley accounts are lacking in their visibility at the moment....Questions have been posed....

You'll be telling us next that endless expansion in a tight market is as safe as 'ouses mister.

Perhaps you haven't used your credit lately?
Have you tried asking the accounts department at Mole Avon whats going on?

As for throwing insults around about who likes who locally

I have bought land as well, some think they have the right to land. Sour grapes?

People also get hold of the wrong end of the stick. If in doubt speak to the person involved. Ring them up. Do you want my number @Beetlejuice or have you got it already?
I have no interest in speaking to you we have spoken before and I’ve heard enough about you not to waste my time with.
