Just been in for a couple of routine farming items - both out of stock, unfortunately.

On the way out couldn't help noticing all the gourmet dog dinner freezers still well loaded.

Ok then , there is a need clearly, all you clever posters why don't you start up your own local buying/selling groups/co-ops ?not just to put money for a few shares but hard work and commitment ? like those 2 did in the early days with plenty of farmer commitment...
very easy to spout off on s\media these days but i think you had better go to a few meetings and show your expertise ....(y).

Like i say there is clearly a need, Cooperation works well in other countries why cant it work here? or is that a subtly different subject......

It seems one thing that is clear to me is if you want credit then get it from a proper lender second thing is there is a need for younger farmers to join in buying and selling groups.

and not me because I'm becoming an old fart nowadays....(y):sneaky:
If you dont do credit they its payment on collection or before delivery. Offering someone a £1000 credit is an insult .
Like saying bog off to your customers.

To be fair to Mole Avon, they seem to have been forced to go through everyone's account limits, comparing them all with their recent trading experience, in order to satisfy the dreaded banksters.

The limit on one of our accounts was reduced from £3000 to £250 which, after 47 years of prompt payment every fortnight (1200 or so successful encounters!) might well be seen as a gratuitous insult.

In retrospect, they should been far more upfront to everyone in explaining why this had to happened, and not tried to hide so feebly behind the coincidence of the corona virus.

The inevitable backlash serves them absolutely right.

So what worthwhile reason did Mole Avon give for cutting your credit?
None, here.

They probably had to do this in order to sort the mismatch between credit facilities already agreed and normal trading requirements - in our case an anomaly of about 30:1.

However, they should have been far more upfront, instead of trying to hide behind the corona virus.

That's not so good then.

Usually credit department is the easiest to get hold of and get an answer ?

What? That is odd.
MVF have moved their borrowing facility. If you take a peek on companies house you will see.
That means their banking facility with that bank has changed and they have moved to another bank.

Spoke to the Chairman last week about the very subject.
Accounts are due out very soon, along with details on virtual AGM.

A farmer co-op can readily be started. The only model to use is the one used on the continent. This, however, involves all the farmers who are members sourcing the vast majority of their inputs through that co-op. I understand you can't be a member either without submitting a copy of your accounts and stumping up the joiner/shareholder fee which is not inconsiderable. This is how a farmer in backyard France can buy 12 packs of maize seed delivered direct by the breeder for the same money a grain maize grower in Pays de la Loire who buys 2000 packs can.

Pleasing banksters despite the fact money/interest rates are so dirt cheap it's unbelievable.

I don't agree with policies that affect all customers on some blanket basis. If you have a collection of folks who are simply terrible payers then cease trading with them and work more closely with those that do?

You made the 1st accusation and like the forum busy body you are it had nothing to do with you then you get questioned and you go on the defensive maybe think before you start throwing stones as some people will throw rocks back.

Ok steady up there.

Never have I owed mole Avon money past my due date but recently they have slashed the amount I can book to my account has this happened to others

You asked a question seeking advice. I wasn't throwing rocks, perhaps i didn't make it clear.

Maybe your credit limit was cut because of credit history?

What I should have said was
" maybe your credit amount has been cut because you haven't used the account for a while affecting your credit history."

I'll leave it there me think.
