Bale wrap tax

Dropped a trailer load at recycling place a few days ago and it's going straight to landfill, thought it would have it's own pile but just in with the general waste.

With the likes of sky news going on about plastic waste all the time I'm surprised bale wrap has not been talked about more. Especially since some farmers use the wind to get rid of their wrap...
Drives me mad having to tip it into landfill for it to sit there for eternity…be miles better letting us burn it (legally )

It’s not just a tax on farmers. It’s across all industries for single use plastic with low amounts of recycled material in the product. It has been coming for a while. It’s just flipping annoying it’s coinciding with high prices.

But we pay to have the bale wrap taken away and recycled into stokboard. It’s not single use so why a single use tax??
Its like @Mark C says, if there is a low percentage of recycled material in the wrap it will be taxed. Its not just about you recycling it into stokboard which I applaud you for.

It feels like we pay for it three times already. We pay for the rolls of wrap. We carefully place the clean (as possible) wrappers into a big bin liner (which we also buy) and pay to send it off to Solway Recycling. Then we buy it back again as Stokboard (which incidentally is my new favourite product, having recently replaced the plywood in a sheep weigh crate with stokboard).
