Red diesel shortage?

A company I know, that will have to revert to white, was only sent half their recent order of red. When they questioned their suppliers, they were told it had been estimated how much red they would use leading up to April the 22nd, and that is what was sent.
Seems the suppliers will be audited on who they supply.
Mentioned it to another person today, and he had heard the same from a builder that his supplier won’t supply him any further red.
Our suppliers last year were doing a audit as too what the fuel was used for I think they have some responsibility as to who they supply

So after April, when construction loses red diesel.
If a farmer hires a digger to do farm ditches etc, will we have to put white or red in as the next hirer could be on a building site who can't use red ?
Also will red increase in price due to less usage.
Someone who is losing red for their business said they are looking at other alternatives to white diesel. Bio type products, not sure what though.

I was thinking the same with hire machines. I guess the hire company will specify white only.

I think there are 2 prices for red, or supposed to be depending what you are using it for, tho come april that will change to 1.

Is that just the vat element depending whether you are using it instead of kero for heating, or normal use such as fuel for machinery.?
Don't think so but not sure, vat on red & kero is 5%, after a certain quantity the vat rises to 20%.

It has been known for a delivery of say 5000L of red to be done on 2 different tickets to lessen the vat......I've been told.....

The bio type products as you call them which I'm guessing will be hvo or gtl are actually dearer than white so they'll be disappointed.
