    Urea rules

Read a snippet in the Farmers Weekly this week that seemed to imply that the new rules regarding urea and the 1st of April were a Red Tractor thing. Is it just for farm assurance or is it a defra thing, and if it`s a defra thing then what can they do if you do spread after the cut off date??

    SFI 24 no till payment

Just wondering if there's any further information out yet as to what constitutes no till in the eyes of SFI? Is it a dts/mzuri/claydon direct into stubble? Or is it going to be lower disturbance tine or disc? Supposedly a claydon grain and fert meets the grant spec with the leading tine applying...

    Recycled Brown Bin Compost.

Anyone using this compost on grassland ? I make haylage every year and have no livestock, I'm very reluctant to import Slurry or Dung as in the past I've found that it's a great way to import weeds /docks etc. It seems that at times this compost can be obtained FOC, so just thinking it might be...

Metric hydraulic fitting v regular bsp

I have a hydraulic ram which has a metric end on it to attach the hydraulic hose. I need to modify the hose pipework. Metric fittings are same as those fitted on power washers, they have rubber seals in them. See pic Should I remove that metric end and replace with bsp or is there a reason...

    Wet the new normal

If the wet weather we have experienced for the last nine months was to be the "normal" I think I would have to pack in. It's just too miserable and hard work! Hopefully it's a one off season.

    Is This Bad Husbandry?

Recently bought some tenanted land. On visiting it today, I found this ewe clamped over a lamb. She had no water. There was no-one on site. This looks completely unacceptable. Who better to ask than TFF.

    Arable FBT soil testing

Chatting with my agronomist this morning and he was telling me how some FBT agreements, down in more arable areas, had clauses in them requiring the land to be soil tested at the beginning and end of the term with a full spectrum analysis, with a charge to put right any degradation. I've heard...
