952 in east Yorks vs 648 average.

8 months of above average rain fall 3 record breaking March, July and Oct . 2 average may and June, two below Jan and Feb.

four periods of 7 or more dry days (longest 9 days) from mid June to Today

wettest day 72mm on 29th October
I've recorded 931mm, Sencrop. Friends 5 either side over 1000mm.

951 mm here
3 mm short of 2019

but this year a dry Jan and feb wet since March
the average is now all over the place
last 5 years 800
last 40 years 650
long term average in the 20 century was considered to be 500
dryest year 2011 with 420 mm which is what we have had in the last 3 months

12 so far today so not letting up

looking at stats we would be better with a wet Jan and feb then dry for 2024
but we will get what we get and there is nothing we can do about it so no good worrying about it

North lancs on the edge of the trough of bowland (can't be far from @Bowland Bob )
2023 1564mm
2022 1311mm
2021 1503mm
2020 1912mm

So I think this year has been pretty much bang on average rainfall here.

Sorry if this is elsewhere.

Over here in (historically) sunny Essex we have a long term average of 495 mm.

We had 662mm in 2021 making it a wet year, 432 in 2022 making it a dry year.

This year we have been 'lucky' to receive 808mm which is a cool 163% of normal.

How about some of you others, a friend on Exmoor has just texted 2000 mm but his stock know how to swim.

Wettest year ever(since records began 1950ish)
38.9" 988mm
Beating previous record 2012 by 1.8"
Big difference of 180mm above for an eastern county.
651mm on the west side of Essex

1225mm for 2023 total, wettest month was October with 344mm, average oct rainfall being 86mm. Place is a sorry state, saturated ground has the winter crops in a mess, plus high winds has done for a lot of trees too. 5 mile inland from Angus coast.

1465mm, have had slightly wetter years, but not as persistent as last year. We are at the bottom of a steep hill so 10s of 1000L of water passing through our property daily, pains me when I pay a water bill.
