Still can be.Making money out of silly rules.
Layer upon layer of jobsworths.
Nothing wrong with the straps for what I can see. Used to all be blue roped once on
Would they know what a half hitch is

There is another thread recently on them. It started as certification that your trailer was roadworthy after her son was killed from inexperienceExactly who or what is Tilly pass?
Still like rope ,and can do a few different hitchsStill can be.

They quote the STF (standard tension force) as the capacity of the strap and they aren't the only ones who do this. The people who do this fundamentally don't understand the mechanics involved. Comes under the heading of a little bit of information is dangerousHe said 350 daN (decanewton) which is equivalent to 357kg. So something is incorrect as they looked bigger than 350kg straps
So is using rope still legal? And what would Tilly say about different types of rope and ways of tying itStill like rope ,and can do a few different hitchs
but tell me where to find that nice red and blue rope that lasted ages and was not stiff as hell and slippy like thois new blue crap ,

Most of the younger generation wouldnt have a clue how to tightly rope a load onOf course they are legal. I think a truck driver once told me straps are for builders, and ropes are for people who know what they are doing.

Its a bit like the old learnin to ride a bike statementThe guys at the fert depo helped me rope on one time, and sadly I can't remember how the knot worked now, and I really must learn it again because it was tight as anything and far less hassle having a couple of ropes to lash a load down than half a dozen or more straps you probably need to be legal these days.
yes its never been illegal the problem comes when they stop you there is no label to tell the little wanks how to work out if it meets the load secure rating so they nick you.So is using rope still legal? And what would Tilly say about different types of rope and ways of tying it

rope on bagged fertiliser never comes loose when done properly in 30 years ive never lost a bag when roped and sheeted but with ratchet straps and sheet the ratchets are loose within a few miles as the load settles and this can carry on for 100's of miles . progress f**kThe guys at the fert depo helped me rope on one time, and sadly I can't remember how the knot worked now, and I really must learn it again because it was tight as anything and far less hassle having a couple of ropes to lash a load down than half a dozen or more straps you probably need to be legal these days.
they wouldn't know f**k all about roping a loadSo is using rope still legal? And what would Tilly say about different types of rope and ways of tying it
Simple. Hide all the trailers for the inspectionWhy can I see this becoming yet another red tractor standard!!!!! All trailers used for farm work must have a current Tilly pass certificate, I can hear it now!!!
