Auto steer virgin....

Im looking to upgrade a tractor and move to a proper GPS solution rather than a light bar system. Currently have a patchwork black box system on the tractor to be replaced.

Went to look at a 3 year old tractor at the dealers today that is not auto steer ready but they are pricing up options to get it to auto steer.

Salesman was having to check with a tech to work out best way to do it and wanted to get the right nav controller/receiver set up to get 2.5cm accuracy with a steering valve installed. He is going to spec it up and then quote properly.

Tractor has a side winder arm rest with an inteli view screen. They say they can get the system to run on that so no need for another screen.

What are peoples views on add ons to get me to where I want to be.

Tractor main tasks will be fert and spraying both arable and grass, top work and potentially drilling.

Our dealer (we have 6 NH of verus ages) said to us before when we got an ex hire one all the side winder ones just needed the nav controller and receiver put on but mybe they just spec them all that way. Just seems the way they talk most of the gubbins is on them already part from controller/reciever, i may be wrong since the rest with nav where specced to have it from new

Yep as above, most are ready apart from nav controller and receiver, which aren't cheap.

You can find them secondhand though, some people buy stock tractors with nav controllers fitted and will never use autosteer.

We got a non side winder 7.190 converted to autosteer a few years ago, it needed everything fitted to it even a 2nd hand screen, it all works fine though and you wouldn't k ow it wasn't a factory fit.

I was running a blackbox and bought an FJD kit from @ERH Services Ltd.
Finding it very good.

Any of your gear using isobus? If so you might want a second screen. Mainly if you were using the coverage map otherwise you would always need to switch back forth between the machine and gps. Only iso machines we have are the balers so no need for GPS so not speaking from personal experience. I could be wrong I don't know how much one would need to change between the screens. Probably something to to maybe look into after you try with only one screen.

Did you ever get the Tractor in question or at least the pricing for getting a non AGR new Holland fully going with a fully integrated factory set up?
Thanks

Yes, I have in principle agreed a deal on the tractor but wnt see it here for a couple weeks at least.

Best price I have had from 1 NH dealer for GPS set up os £9,840.

That is with a second screen, not thru the sidewinder screen, which probably is a more flexible option as no need to mess about if using an ISO Bus implement.

Another dealer quoted £11,025 for fitting but using the sidewinder screen.

Im probably going aftermarket at those prices but going to wait to see what grant is in the offing.

Hi,

Please give us a call if you want to discuss third party options.. we have two different systems ranging from £4995 to £6499.
The £4995 FJD option is the only one on our website for now but CHCNav will be going on soon.

Was the £11,025 including a sidewinder screen or using the tractors own sidewinder screen?
That makes the quote of £9800 look more appealing, less money and an additional screen. However I’d go for the £11k option if it was including a second sidewinder screen.

As with yourself I’m lurking to see if any grants are available on these OEM setups.

£11k just using existing screen. No second screen.
