I just wonderded what peoples opinions where on block pattern tyres we have always had open centre but have been told they will last longer. However 90% + of our time would be on concrete but we do go to field sometimes are they realy bad for this. Or any recommendations of brands in mid range tyres would be great. If there is a thread on this already please link as have been unable to find any when searching.
Thankyou in advance for any help.

I’ve done 1500hrs on my Michelin bibloads and they’re like new, only downside is they hold muck in the treads, only if you say drive in cattle pen etc.

Got Michelin bibloads and can’t see any disadvantages. They literally don’t wear down much. Bit of a whine 40km/h and great around the yard. We aren’t in livestock sheds but in fields loading compost they are fine.

How would they do loading muck from a field midden when its a bit wet underfoot and your working through 1ft deep ruts? dig along ok or choke up and go slick and go nowhere?

Be very careful on side slopes you will end up at the bottom, No lateral traction. otherwise good wear and road comfort.

Haver a look at Vredestein Endurion tyres. The advantages of Bibloads but they self clean. Customers seem to really rate them on new telehandlers.
We have them on a Manitou. Like them a lot.
Taking silage bales and loading straw in the field the seem to stay on top and make less ruts than the old tyres. Ditto loading muck they don't dig holes when they spin.

Recommend.

We have two rigids, one on each type. Pivot steer on open centre but tyres on it will do 5000hrs whereas the rigids are half that.
The block treads are no worse off road than half worn open centre tyres but far superior on the hard stuff, and ime last about 50% longer.
Avoid Firestone, not a patch on Michelin

The only time any tyres I have “self clean” is when I’m in the concrete yard or machinery shed and with every move they self clean on my clean yard!! I think that’s just a marketing buzz word but has little if any provenance!
