Buying a Same Silver 130, need advice

Yikes. Out of curiosity, what happened to the box?
If I had a diagram I could explain better, but it locked up, smashed a sun gear housing and the planetary gears inside it, broke a shaft that run the length of the gear box (most of the shaft came out front wards but had to go in from the back because there was a big gear on the other side of the housing at the other end of the broken shaft), took the centre out of the clutch as well. Got box all reconditioned, went for 3 days and first gear vanished totally, would go in but nothing happened. Never did use first much so just worked without

Thanks Cowabunga , I was hoping you would see this thread. Am I right in thinking that the Silver 160 and 180 had the same 9 speed box as the Titan?

I stopped in at the SDF dealership on Friday and dropped off a couple of boxes of beer for their trouble. The mechanic gave me the print out from the dyno, 122 hp at the shaft.
That is what it should be at the shaft, so hardly worth getting the extra 8hp unless it happened to be dyno’d again.
Same were on their way out in the UK in favour of the Deutz brand by the time they brought in a few bigger Silvers. I’m not sure, but I may have seen a 150 or 160 at a show and it had the old mechanical heavy duty Laser transmission. It was a long time ago, so can’t be sure.
The model that took over from Titan was Rubin, which was not a great success. Rather too complex for most drivers and a nasty robotised change between 9th and 10th.

Two gears at once like Cowabunga was saying?

130s type should be less prone to it as they have a three solenoid setup and a pressure filter on the low pressure circuit. The pressure fikter does though have a bypass valve therefore if light and buzzer comes on do something about it!!! The pressure switch is a differential setup and lights if there’s a difference in pressure either side of filter to indicate that the bypass is open, the problem will start showing up with cold oil with the light going off as tractor warms up.

Solenoids only stick when brake filings has been floating in the oil and again 110/130 will have heavier brake setup than 100.6 etc and wil only wear through if abused with badly setup trailer brakes. I wouldn’t worry about it as it’s a very rare occurrence.
