suffolk coulters block very essy and have no pressure to speak of

use a simple tine instead with a tube down the bank of it

you will need something to close the slot and consolidate after it - harrow / packer roller

I’ve honestly never heard of anyone direct drilling with a Suffolk coulter - they belong firmly in the av history books now

A tine is much simpler than and way better to get in the ground

Brings back memories of trying to power harrow drill into stubble year's ago, the accord drill just turned into a straw rake!.
Yes that’s where we are at the moment trying to use the combi on suffolks in a min till situation. Needs multiple passes with existing knackered kit that isn’t really suited to the job to chop stubble up before hand for the drill to cope. Yes we could plough but the running costs of it and the fact the plough is getting tired and the tractor pulling it is really a bit big are making me think long and hard about what we do next.

I’ve always believed in evolution rather than revolution where stuff like this is concerned but this time a revolution may well be the answer!
