Combine curse continues

Spray our combine with mix of gear oil and diesel at end of season, keeps paint fresh and rodents out. Get it running full bore in the yard and fire the mix in the front with a spray gun, it’s amazing how effectively the airflow moves it thru the machine. Used to get a bit of trouble with the nibblers, not had any visitors in years since starting.
Mmm ,diesel and oil ..... got a light mate .

Following on from the previous post, is the right hand side knife just plug n play as I’ve connected the hydraulic pipes and it’s not working 🤬
Yes right hand one is on all the time the header is on but the left there is a on/off switch. If you don’t re connect the pipes after removing the sideknife it can knacker the hydraulic pump

Oh yes make sure bolt is in linking pulley to drive , left side behind guard.
Check oil level in small tank on back of header , left hand side, just in front wheel when on combine
Looking like minimal oil in the tank, is that just 46 or something different ?

Yes should be . Fit knife and there are two pipes which will be joined together , un join and those are flow and return for V knife . When you engage header , V Knife should start .
Things to watch , obviously don t do anything with header going !!
Turn the linkage by hand ( or bar) and apply plenty of WD 40 or oil to lubricate.
There are nylon grips, make sure they are adjusted right ie not over tight
It is possible to bend the bottom of the knife on the ground or T pole . Make sure knife is straight.
It only gets used for a few days a year and gets put in shed and forgotten so maybe yours has not been used for years and is just seized up . Ps grease nipples on linkage at top also
I’ve chopped the bottom knife off of ours as it always gets bent on plough furrows by the hedge

Ever thought of trying the other hole, tend to find the knife sits a bit high in laid stuff
No mine goes down well enough it’s probably the angle that will allow lower cutting which is an extra I believe but never actually seen one fitted. Mine it on quite tall tyres which maybe tips it forward a bit. Are the skids up in their highest position?

Sorry to go off topic slightly but what is the easiest way to access the chopper blades. From underneath or remove the swinging flap as I used to on dominators and go in from the top
