Another question
Pushed the vario forward, as been tinkering around it today, can’t work out we’re the various plates go in, or has this had an upgrade and doesn’t need them 🤔
Open the guard doors on the sides, should explain what to do with the belts.

I was impressed with the distance it travels already, it’s going to form a heck of a bed going another step 😳
You’ll have to take the knife belt off and pull the pins out on the side of the header to make it open up enough to get the extra plates in. I’m guessing you’ve got the plates to put in it?

Wires chewed in multiple places, so couldn’t pull a new one through with the old, thankfully the cable threaders found a path and managed to pull a length of 3 core through.

All back together and working
There had been damage in there previously judging by the amount of cable connectors that I retrieved.
Thanks again 👍
Well done for an excellent fix following advice from other users. I dread to think of the alternative: Call the dealer. Man turns up (with apprentice in tow). Lots of jiggling with plug in gizmos. “ You need a new loom guv - I’ll get parts to order one.” Turns up 4 days later (with apprentice) bearing new genuine Claas loom. Fit & test.

The bill: “HOW much ??”

Poking around trying to get the side knife to work I noticed this, are the rams in the wrong holes for cereals ?
It might explain why I’m struggling a bit to pick up laid stuff 🤔

Following on from the previous post, is the right hand side knife just plug n play as I’ve connected the hydraulic pipes and it’s not working 🤬

Is there a small oil tank and pump on the left hand end of the header? If so open the end guard and there should be a pulley with 1/2 inch holes through it and two Allen bolts above on the right to screw them in through the pulley to give the motor drive

Yes should be . Fit knife and there are two pipes which will be joined together , un join and those are flow and return for V knife . When you engage header , V Knife should start .
Things to watch , obviously don t do anything with header going !!
Turn the linkage by hand ( or bar) and apply plenty of WD 40 or oil to lubricate.
There are nylon grips, make sure they are adjusted right ie not over tight
It is possible to bend the bottom of the knife on the ground or T pole . Make sure knife is straight.
It only gets used for a few days a year and gets put in shed and forgotten so maybe yours has not been used for years and is just seized up . Ps grease nipples on linkage at top also

Oh yes make sure bolt is in linking pulley to drive , left side behind guard.
Check oil level in small tank on back of header , left hand side, just in front wheel when on combine

On Thursday 26th September, we’re holding a webinar for farmers to go through the guidance, actions and detail for the expanded Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) offer. This was planned for end of May, but had to be delayed due to the general election. We apologise about that.

Farming and Countryside Programme Director, Janet Hughes will be joined by policy leads working on SFI, and colleagues from the Rural Payment Agency and Catchment Sensitive Farming.
