I think May sold them when Boris was London Mayor unfortunately. Rubber bullets would get it sorted.
Trouble being they were on one knee for the BL whatever protestors and full on riot gear yesterday. Its should have been dealt with firmly from the off, too late now.
Kahn certainly isnt helping the situation along with scum media, seem intent on making things worse.
Regardless of how you feel I fear that this current situation has put race relations 20+ years back

most definitely and our so called up and coming generation look weak, spineless and gullible

Not being funny but it wouldn’t take much to armour a tractor? Use those hedge cutting double windows with mesh for window protection and there’s not much else that could break? Put a 4000 or 6000gal tanker on the back with the hydraulic driven swivel guns And they’d do a seriously good job (y) Most people I know that have bought a tanker in the last 5 years have all had swivel guns for winter spreading.

No time for soft police tactics this might shock some people what im going say next,
Hit them and hard if people are rioting in the uk streets, the police need to gain the upper hand because it's the protesters who are laughing at the moment,
Problem is , for the police on the frontline to go in hard they need the full support 100% of the top brass above them and they know that is unlikely in this day and age

The Police lost it when they dropped down on one knee.
It looked to me that they were intimidated and caved in to the pressure. They made trouble for policing in future and fellow officers immediately who did not do the same or were not doing it at the moment the mob were looking.

Police should not be seen to take sides, Britain First, BLM, XR, Brexit, what have you. I wouldn't mind them at the end of thier shift taking off the uniform and joining the peaceful element of the protests according to thier conciense but to bow to the mob in uniform was unforgivable.

Racism is very complex, I've learned allot from an individual who works in that environment. The Black/White issue is the simplest and perhaps least complicated, some whites are racist and hate blacks, some blacks are racist and hate whites.

You then dig down deeper and start to divide the ethnic groups up, and things get much more complex. How often do you see the Chinese/British complaining or protesting ? Asians in general have a much more settled and traditional family environment that say African/British.

Then you come to the glue of society, home life, education, housing, self-esteem and expectations. In many inner City's this is a big problem leading to disengagement, gangs, drugs and low self esteem. Community groups, Councils and Government have wrestled with this for decades and improved things, however not far enough. But, it is not simple and also provides a useful Political Football like the NHS that suits certain agendas come electioneering.

Racism is an issue that will not be easily resolved, we are all different, tall, small, fat, thin, big nose/ears etc, etc, etc. Those that are bullied often become bullies and vice-versa. So, black/white will always be an easy target.

The UK's strength is diversity and safety, periodically a spark ignites a furore and we have to sit and witness the nonsense.

It's not the first time and it certainly won't be the last, however things like Windrush sometimes has us all scratching our heads....

who the hell would want to join the police ? dammed if they do, dammed if they dont, my fear is that the same tragic not tackling serious crimes, because of the fear of being racist, like the white girl sex grooming scandle, will now grow, same as our traveller friends its seems one law is not for all, some have special favours or excuses ?

The thing is, you charge in with batons and rubber bullets you escalate the situation, Horses might clear the area quickly but they'll be back as soon as the mounted police return to the lines.

The US went hard and fast with it's police response, water cannons, tear gas, flashbangs etc.. and it's turned into a literal street war in some spots.

I think the Met are on the right path with kettling, letting them stand there for a few hours as long as it isn't totally aggressive apart from the occassional bottle thrown etc.. they'll be passive and let it fizzle out - there's a reason why the protests here didn't turn into full blown riots and buildings being burnt down.

I find it reprehensible that so many young blacks get ostracised or are actively dissuaded from joining the Police force by their own ethnic groups. If they want to be an equal part of society, they must also be prepared to uphold it's laws.
