Crimping grain

Tried to quote headless chicken, but got some random post:confused:

Anyway, there is someone local who agbags if you were interested guth, though it'll up your costs somewhat compared to using your own. Less waste with the agbag I've found however, so not all loss. Pm me if interested.
Alternatively, can you put a concrete pad down next to a wall? ?r I've even used dung boarding to create a pit.
But I would think a 'mole heap' would be viable if done well.
Keeping Roland at bay is main priority, as suggested above, though I've found lime to be of limited help

Yea iv taken a look at their website but few things put me off bagging it ! : the amount of shovel work in the winter scraping it away from the sides of the bag etc 2 : the cost, esp as I have my own crimper that can do 10t/hour, 3 : seems a waste of money as u can only use the agbag one year!

Havent got anywhere besides a wall suitable really, putting a few loads of concrete down aint a prob and if im not happy with crimping I can use the concrete pad for storing roundbales next winter but worried as wont be any walls if it will be air tight enough and also keeping Roland at bay!!

What are they like on their feet @RAF ?

You need to stop chopping the straw and feed it straight out the bale ad lib.

How much protein blend head a day are they getting?

Drop the chopped beat.

And feed them bicarbonate soda at 180 grms head a day to start off with ASAP.

Don't take this the wrong way but those cattle look far from right.

Also if you have any haylage/silage feed it ab lib out the bale.

Basically your diet is too rich with not enough roughage in the diet at the same time.

Is it one or two a problem or the whole batch?

Was just using the beet up . Muck is loose . I thought initially a bad batch but they are all starting show , some cattle are fine though . But they all should be tip top there’s no excuse for them bad ones

What minerals are you feeding?
Check vitamin E levels. Crimped grain can be lower in vitamin e and require extra supplementation. Are your protein pellets mineralised?

It’s a protein blend , I am a bit stuck as what is the best way feed these black and whites . Should I drop the beet and chopped straw and just feed straw in racks ?

Looking at the size of the horns on them they don’t look to be where I would want them weight for age.
Have you calculated energy density of total
diet?
I just use ad-lib crushed barley and protein pellet mix with free access to ad lib barley straw from a feeder. They don’t consume that much straw. Are you weighing and do you know what your dlwg are doing?
