Disgusted with Waitrose

The Mrs went on a thankfully rare trip to Waitrose yesterday and was given this pack, unwanted and unasked for, weighing in at 21 ounces, complete with the leaflet urging us to save trees! I just looked through the calendar, it has a different meal every month. The only meat in it was lobster, scallops, and duck, the other 9 were vegetarian/vegan. What a kick in the teeth for all the Waitrose beef, lamb, and pork suppliers. Any suppliers on here should have a good go at them.

I can only afford to go there once a month anyway, as for supermarkets in general, they will all stab you in the back, I have no direct contracts with any of them and thats fine with me.

Just about got her converted to Aldi, but the bloody cat will only eat Waitrose essential cat pouches, ridiculous really as she was caught out of the straw barn!!

Leave other cat food out and if she doesnt eat it after 10 mins, take it away. Repeat at regular feeding times until she eats it, problem solved (just spoiled really!)

Thats a typical Waitrose customer they have pitched it at I guess.... :-(

On other sites they are being applauded for committing to selling 100% UK lamb (as they can’t source any ‘Duchy’ NZ lamb I guess).

I worked for 12 years with a company supplying all the multiples (except M&S) with fresh produce.
Things have no doubt changed in the intervening 18 years, but having a pop at Waitrose is close to biting the hand that feeds.

Trouble is manky farm cat seems to be an important, and much loved part of the family now!

It’s a CAT! Mine has survived 20 years on ‘inferior’ Whisgers pouches, currently available from farm Co-Op and Amazon. As it happens Ive only just had a mega-box of the stuff, in jelly, from Amazon. Hopefully she will live to eat it all, otherwise we shall have to get another kitten to finish it off.
Having said that, her sister died suddenly at barely 19. Do you think it could be because she wasn’t fed on superior Waitrose mush? I’m feeling guilty now.

Lobster and crab fisheries are reasonably sustainable, as it goes.

Veganism is just an excellent marketing opportunity to sell cheap processed produce at very expensive prices. If you are a supermarket, what's not to like about that?

It's difficult to overfish them because the method of capture (pots) are reasonably inefficient.

Only a matter of time before vegan food becomes the focus of some scandal/scare. It can't be a case of, processed food = bad, Vegan processed food = good. You can't have it both ways.
