Dog stealing

It is not beholden for an innocent man to change his life to avoid the actions of criminals. It should not matter if bad people can see your cash on the kitchen table or see that you have a nice dog. It should just be a simple fact that if you enter someone else's property without invitation or attempt to steal belongings you will suffer consequences that may include loss of life. Baiting bad men to their end should be regarded as a gift to society not a crime.

That's fine in theory, like bringing back the death penalty for murderers. Then two innocent English tourists get shot in the USA when calling at a house to seek directions because the owner thinks they are thieves. Or innocent people get hanged for murders they didn't commit. Both processes are difficult to reverse when the authorities get it wrong.

All are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. That's what makes for a civilised society. It's not perfect but the majority of decent people seem to think it's the best we can do meantime.

Problem being, decent people seems to be rapidly becoming outnumbered.

Police aren't interested. Would rather spend your tax dollars on speed cameras.

@Dry Rot if you happened to be cleaning your shotgun and someone smashed into your house to steal your litter of puppies would you not react? A lady and her daughter on Facebook had two men break into her house, spray them with brake and clutch fluid in their eyes and steal the puppies. Lots of folk walking dogs on commons being threatened at knife point to give up their dogs. In America it would be a simple 'stand your ground' shooting, would it be wrong?

I am afraid I don't go in for hypothetical arguements, they seem rather pointless because I could probably invent one to justify every conceivable situation.

To give a second answer to this post, a civil servant (which is what the police are) will generally take the line of least resistance. If they won't do their job, make it easier than doing nothing. The more times a crime is reported and an incident number demanded, the greater will the statistics for that offence stand out and the easier to bring it to the attention of your MP. Sorry, I know it isn't easy which is why they get away with it. Always complain and continue asking why nothing is done until they do something. Probably easier for me as I've had the practice! 😂

Have there been many actual thefts in your area?
Endless posts about it on local facebook pages but nobody seems to be able to name anybody that has had their dog taken. I am not claiming it never happens but I do think it is very hyped up by playing on so many peoples fears.

A working cocker was stolen from a kennel near here, plastered all over facebook, annoymous tip off of a cocker seen being taken inside a lovely property known for dodgy dealings in middle of Dudley (50 miles away) owner went with police the following day, no sign, no action taken, said cocker just so happened to turn up at a vets 3 miles away from said dudley property few hours later, sounds like in this case it is caravan dwelling folk who rent a couple of houses to sell puppies from. I imagine it must generate a fair bit of £££ for them, puppy breeding/dodgy dog selling or dog fighting. Capital punishment would be to light a sentence imho for it.

This dog was stolen from his farm in Bristol area. Sheltie dog.

His owners were ill with covid when he was stolen in the early part of February. "Travellers" have targeted them before, and the dogs they stole were found very badly abused.

Case number: 164202 Dog Lost UK.

Delighted to report that this dog has been found and returned his people!
A canny policeman thought to check the credentials of a dog during a raid on a property in Bristol, which proved to be him.

We were just talking about this as it is a big fear of mine :( I have heard stories (not local to here - and just stories so unsure how accurate) of people being attacked while walking and the dogs taken!

Yep looks like you have to go armed to walk your dog now and think of a plan of attack if confronted by the scum !
Yep, I know of a couple of people who now walk their dogs with a rape alarm and one of those pocket-sized indelible dye spray things.

A can of Foot Master to spray in their faces might not be a bad thing 🤔
