How does one empty a dpf?
Depends what it's full of... a) ash residue from being in service a long time, or b) soot from failed regenerations.

Take it apart and -officially- have it cleaned by a specialist. Once back on the vehicle, if previous answer was

a) - tell ecu is has a new DPF and reset the adaptions. Drive merrily on.
b) - resolve issue as to why it was not regenerating of its own accord.

Depends upon the age of the vehicle....

Nice, shiny, and modern; professional chemical clean, and laptop to delete the pointless anti pollution bollox invented by the petroleum industry to appease the masses while increasing profits

Older like my d40 nissan navara; take the dpf off, then insert sharp end of a dung grab tine at high velocity, and smash the bestard internals to bits. Refit, and enjoy trouble free improved mpg.....

..... Until the chassis rots through, and breaks in two 🙈

Buy a can of dpf cleaner and spray it into the correct place.

Thrash the rubbish off your vehicle for a few days. Repeat a couple of times, works a treat.

You’ll get strange looks from neighbours as you drive by them for the umpteenth day in a row in bottom gear at 3500 rpm, but it does work.

Smile to yourself that you’ve spent next to nothing and beaten the system.

Done that before 🤣🤣 yes it works but it does seem odd to thrash it around for a bit doing extra miles that shouldn't need travelling all to save the environment 🤷

Aye, as above. Constant revs and load until it regerates it's self. Heard that some vehicles only regenerate if they have more than half a tank of diesel in but that could just be a myth?
Egr delete is highly recommended, made my Isuzu more predictable to drive.

There are many other pre-requisites to enable a regen, not just certain rpm and road speed.
