Dpf full

It regenerates constantly
Toyota dealer cant see it till next week
no need to take it off, take it to a garage with a dpf cleaner, the good ones can be done in situ (I use launch cleaner)
thrashing it will make no difference (it's a myth)
The ecu looks at lots of things to perform a regen, amount of ash and soot, pressures before and after the dpf, fuel level (above 1/4 at least)coolant temp, cooling fan, to name a few.
you usually (not always) have to reset all the figures after a clean aswell and monitor pressures to make sure it has worked but most garages that have the cleaner should have the diagnostics to do this.

Sh*te quality fuel is the biggest problem with dpf's imho it's only doing its job by trapping particles but crap fuel overloads the job and they can't cope. Stupid thing with the minimum fame/bio content in diesel is dpf's don't like it.
Regular decent hiding is beneficial as well, everyone potters about trying to save fuel but ur just choking the job.

A good thrash was all my Suzuki Grand Vitara ever needed. 20 miles at 3500 rpm and she was reet for months.

98000 miles and only £17 spent on repairs. (Usual maintenance parts required, obviously)
a good thrash wont hurt but on the new stuff the problem is the car has got to think you are on a motorway/dual carriageway etc and not in a village.
it has to see a constant speed like 50/60/70 for a certain time with enough fuel and temps right to regen.
something as daft as the outside temp sensor not working can stop it,

Once the dpf reaches approx 70% blocked ( varies by manufacturer) a dynamic ( on road ) regen isnt possible, and after approx 85% blocked a static one isnt possible either.

by the sound of it you are a mechanic?
If so look at the launch cleaner,it's fantastic, can have them nearly totally blocked (as long as they start) spray the cleaner in through pressure pipe and watch the pressures drop on live data to nearly zero,no regen needed just reset figures and good to go (if the underlying fault is fixed :ROFLMAO: )

never understood why they never made a DPF a replaceable part , like an air filter cartridge , could be disposed of properly then (obvs less often) , my audi needs a regen occasionally , but if it needs replacing its down the back of engine a total PITA to get off , like the vvt turbos thats all boxed in if that need changing , the regen process is to throw loads of extra fuel into the engine to get a hot burn , hows that sit with the green credentials . all this green car stuff is all a half arsed afterthought .

they can be close to engine as it helps get them hot for a regen, to be fair its usually the cats that are nearest not the dpf,

vvt turbos in my experience are not to bad to clean, you just have to be careful when taking them apart, ive done my Mondeo st one twice and its not a bad job, just get them hot first them bolts all come out easy.

I have to say im a fan of vnt turbos, when i hear people replacing them on jd's with std ones i think they are mad instead of cleaning them.

they could still have a removable metal cartridge (or at least a purpose hole for cleaning fluid ) , top of dpf is very accessible , there must be loads changed every year (all vehicles) as most people are just pootering around blocking them up , have to say compared to the old audi a3 i had with standard turbo , this one really kicks in at 1500rpm . and got av 75mpg @70-80mph back from manchester last week down motorway .

No profit in that , I'm assuming @glasshouse isn't on adblue , that's an even bigger nightmare

Just use a drill as mentioned above and delete it.

Ours wouldn't go through MOT cause engine management light on. They tried most of the methods above then gave up and told us to take it away. Still gave us a big invoice. Roll 👀

Sorted now.👍

But they are a removable cartridge already but unlike an air filter the bit in the middle isn't the cheap bit.
