Think I’ve posted on this before but we had an 8s on demo last week these were taken by the rep View attachment 967134View attachment 967135View attachment 967135
Loading the right side! I never ever could see the point of having the spout on the opposite side of the pickup. Many years ago I swapped the disharge on our Muir Hill/ 717 combination. Foreman went bonkers - until he saw it in action, and then he could see the sense of it.

We put the shear bar through ours many years ago, chopper cut the shearbar in half splitting at least 2 knives in the process and bending at least 3 blade carriers. We got parts of a breaker that night and were going the next day with Loctite on the sheabar bolts after that.

Another spectacular incident we had with it was coming down a hill trailing a trailer, it was hitched to the tractor with one the standard JD locking pins so not to catch the grass, however as the weight in the trailer moved the pin came out and the chopper drawbar went down between the wheel and the cab, the PTO was bent to 90 degrees and probably the only thing that stopped it being a worse accident. It bent the main PTO on the machine and the brackets that hold the first bearing, above the drawbar jack. stripped it down bent the plates back into shape with a hammer and the main machine PTO with the press and away we went again. that was the last time we used the JD pin on the chopper and I think last time we dragged trailers too.

Moved on from the FHAR 900 to a Tarrup 10x which I think we did a good 10 seasons with before a few spectacular blow ups sickened us of it, we fixed it up and it went away to a new home in Ireland. We have a JF1350 now first season with it last year first and second cuts and never missed a beat. Its a bit overkill for our operation but it was a machine that was known to us, parts are still easy to get and its built to handle big power so in theory should stand up to what we use it for, will need to get some pics this year.

My oww my 😍

What do you run that with?
Hahaha not sure you are going to be very impressed with my answer, last year we used our JD 6430, this year we have a JD6155r so she will run it. Its not a hard thing to run if its set up properly the 6430 was more than fit for it with a decent 16ft crop of grass and as fast as the man on the pit could keep up. Ideally we would have had an 1100 but this came up forsale and was known to us.

I know what you mean about well set up harvester, it makes a huge difference to how the harvester reacts to a lump and diesel consumption.

I thought you would need north of 200hp to run a 1350. Why the want for a 1100?

We were looking for an 1100 because we weren't sure if the 6430 would handle the 1350 but in the end it managed fine so was the right decision as the 1350 is built for over 200hp input so should be fairly robust.

As I said the limiting factor is the pit so we don't have to push it hard but its a monster
