After reading this i gather there are 2 different types of flail
Pretty sure ours is the hammer type rather than the cutting type
Really struggles with AB15 legume mix, have to crawl through it
It`s one of these

You need to open the bonnet, so we can have a gander... ;)

I swap mine depending on the work planned. I had a ha of sprayed out willow bed. Slow and steady with hammers a week ago left it smooth enough for discing today.

Will need the Y blades before I start flailing any more grassy stuff though!
 
How do front mounted flails cope with things like hidden tree stumps or big logs?

They attack them with gusto. Was sent off to top some scrub ground with one a couple of years ago, nailed several apple tree stumps we didn't know where there. Was only going slowly so it chipped them up no sweat.

Really need a weight on the back if using a lot of front topper and a small (4cyl) tractor IMO.
