Footvax disaster

Didn't footvax last year and horrendous feet all winter. Obviously weather was a factor but lesson learnt.
So at shearing I jabbed them all whilst the Shearer sat them down. Did them on inside rear leg under skin.
Just got home and spotted one with burst absess and coverd in flys. Checked my small flock of 25 ewes and at least 6 have an open wound getting feasted on by flys. Managed to catch all but one and blue spray + crovect. Others have lumps just waiting to pop. Nightmare!!!
Before I get shot down for not injecting in the neck...I've done this before and had similar issues...but this is another level.
Any thoughts? Gonna have to get them all in tmrw and treat again.
After scab at lambing and joint ill, this is the last straw 😭😭😱😱😱. Oh and the ram is getting eaten by crows again...

Not bad mules...58 lambs off 26 ewes. Just need to build a proper handling area with footbath and stop injecting them with footvax.
How you guys cope with so many is beyond me...
Yesterday everything was perfect in the field 😀

Do them in the neck and don't do them at this time of the year. If you house them do them then. If you don't house, they shouldn't need it, but you could try lime in the gateways and specific antibiotic treatment

How does the cost of alymycin compare to footvax?

For that number I think I would turn them over and inject antibiotics.
Alymycin would be cheaper but wouldn't do anything for immunity against footrot. If anything, repeated use might encourage antibiotic resistance.

More of a cure than a prevention.

You are meant to be nice to me when I'm down 😉.
They have a 2nd polytunnel on the way...I will fwd the crowd funding details ASAP!
Their friends dog attacking the flock a few weeks ago has not improved relations.. .grr

Sorry to hear about the dog attack, easier said than done but try and turn it into a positive of education and cooperation, they have every right to grow in polytunnels and you have every right to rear your sheep in peace, work together, sell folks a lamb for the freezer with some veggies in the price (y) .

Re the OP, you say you jabbed them when the shearer was here, I can only pass on some advice I was given by a very experienced shepherd: Only do one job at a time.

i think wooly is harsh....but i think you need better sheep tbh

He has 25 sheep and the last few months the flock has been constantly lame, had scab, lambs have had joint ill and the ram is crook............ so I can only imagine the amount of labour that has gone into those sheep, not to mention the mental torture !!

Life is far too short for that hassle, so I just put an idea in his head that all this could be avoided by having no sheep ! He will thank me one day ;) :D
